The new cat likes to look out windows, when he's not sleeping or chasing pixies.

It looks like someone was having too much fun in my backyard yesterday. I think this was all made by one critter (except for a diagonal track that disappears behind the recycle bin). Was he (or she) playing? Or trying to chase birds leaving the bird feeder? Or ?

To me (possibly only me), it looks like the critter in question was trying to stamp or scuffle out a tree on the left and a person to the right with a mower in between.

A lovely sunset, accompanied by an example of the local avian species.

I see more sunsets over the water than sunrises. Looking out over Buzzards Bay...so what if there's a bit of land on the horizon.

As for P'town, you could easily see both sunrise & sunset over water there. I don't even think you'd have land on the horizon from there. Unless you watched from the top of the Monument of something.

Does this rain in evening's weather radar image look like a giant, green parrot?

Best way to stop problem drinking?

The best way to stop problem drinking?   Lower the drinking age back to 18.    We ran beer bashes in college when the drinking age was 18.  When the age was raised to 21 the drinking continued but the drinkers did in their cars instead of in bars or school dances.

Yesterday, Ann and I put up a groundhog-proof fence around some whiskey barrels that will have veggies growing in them. Apparently we did this just in time. If you look to the right, you can see a groundhog sunning himself (herself?) on the edge of the deck.

That's what I'd worry about, too.  In the past I've built raised bed boxes with chicken wire mesh on the bottom stapled to the inside of the box.  I've then wrapped chicken wire around the outside, stapling down securely on three sides and leaving it partly unstapled on the third so I could pull it back for access.  By wedging bricks up against the unstapled wire I was able to make it fairly rodent resistent -- except for the squirrels, of course.  They teleport.

Ed just does boilers (steam and forced hot water), so he knows what he's doing. I've had other tradesmen come to my house and they've recognized his well organized pipe work. He provides great service and prices. Advice: if you need your boiler cleaned, do it in the Spring or Summer when he's not busy. Don't wait until the winter when everyone is clamoring for boiler service.
