Trust me, you don't have to buy the fight if you follow along with the social play by play from +Andreas Hale and The Well Versed going on right now, powered by FanChatter. It's almost better than being there.

From our founder.

#HappyHolidays
Marty Wetherall originally shared:

My best Christmas present came early this year...

In her four and a half years on this planet, my daughter Audrey has never wanted to watch sports with me. She's always complained that I should turn the channel to a kid's show. Always. Maybe that says something about Minnesota sports lately.

But somehow I've successfully tricked her into being interested in Ricky Rubio. It might be his floppy hair. I know she likes the way his name sounds. And she laughed when he tried to sing Happy Birthday and dance the Dougie at the +Minnesota Timberwolves' recent open practice. Whatever it was, it worked.

Also, her favorite word is "Love" (and she knows how to spell it) so I've made sure she knows that a guy named Love plays for the Timberwolves.

Last night, before she went to bed, we watched the first quarter of the Wolves-Bucks game together and she was in to it. Even though Rubio wasn't playing, she was excited to see Love.

She thought the Timberwolves were playing the Reindeer and I don't blame her. The logo at center court looks like a reindeer and the colors are red and green. So henceforth in my house, the Milwaukee Bucks will be known as Santa's Reindeer.

And last night's mission was to beat Santa's Reindeer to complete the preseason sweep.

As she went to bed after the first quarter, she told me the Reindeer were going to win. The way the Wolves were playing, I thought she was right. I proceeded to teach her about home court advantage as I turned out the light but I'm not sure she fully grasped the concept.

In the middle of the night, after the Wolves had roared back to win by one, Audrey called me into her room (not unusual). I whispered to her that the Timberwolves had won and that Kevin Love was the hero of the game. That made her happy and we both fell asleep.

Then this morning, when Audrey came downstairs with my wife, I asked her to tell mommy who the Timberwolves played last night. She promptly replied "The Reindeer", causing my wife to ask "what team is that?" Audrey's answer: "The white team." Hilarious.

Then it happened. From around the corner, Audrey said, "Daddy, can we watch the end of the Timberwolves game now?"

I said "sure we can" and silently celebrated. My wife smiled and said "you just got your best Christmas present early." And she was right.

So I fired up the DVR and replayed the last minute of the game. Down by six, Audrey watched as the Wolves worked their way into the lead fueled by a big three pointer by Love and stopped the Reindeer from scoring in the last nine seconds to seal the victory.

For the first time, I cheered with my daughter over a Wolves win. She's never been interested before, and the Wolves haven't been winning much lately. Not for over four and a half years.

But all of that has changed, thanks to Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, an open practice and a couple of preseason wins. Even Santa's Reindeer are no match for that.

Merry Christmas

In case you missed it, +Mississippi State University has pioneered the practice of painting its end zone with a hashtag -- #HailState -- for the Bulldogs' big rivalry game against +Ole Miss this Saturday night, also known as the Egg Bowl.

In honor of this memorable first, FanChatter is featuring a special #HailState ChatterBox on our homepage at http://www.fanchatter.com tracking all the chatter and Instagram pics from the game. There's even a tab for Ole Miss fans if you prefer running with the Rebels (or you just want to see the what the other side is saying).

It works great on smartphones, too, so try it out from Davis Wade Stadium down in Starkville, MS and good luck in the #battleforthegoldenegg!
