Help us to make GNOME better! We need a hand collecting data about which keyboard layouts are used in different countries and languages. It's a simple thing to help with, and will only take you a couple of minutes.

GNOME uses a database that matches keyboard layouts to countries and languages. This is used to try and guess which layouts will be interesting to users depending on their country and language. Unfortunately, this database has a lot of gaps. To fix this, we are collecting information about which keyboard layouts people use.

Everyone who uses a computer knows something about which layouts are used in their country, even if it is just the keyboard layout that they use on their own computer. All you need to do is check the wiki page we have set up and find the keyboard layouts that you are familiar with. Then fill in the code for your country and language. It's as simple as that.

Having this data will let us to select the correct layout for people based on their country and language, and will save GNOME users from annoying bugs and from having to manually select a keyboard. It's a great way to help.
Keyboard Data. We'd like to collect Language and Country data for our keyboard layouts database. This will enable us to predict which keyboard layouts are relevant to a user, based on the other data. ...

#ZTE to launch #Mozilla-based phone in Europe

Cheng Lixin, CEO of ZTE US, confirmed the plans in an interview at CES 2013, Bloomberg reports. Cheng went on to say that a US launch might also be considered. "We closely monitor the ecosystem and how it evolves," he said.

"If that is ready and if consumer studies support that data, then we may launch one in US also this year."

Mozilla is best known for the Firefox browser and its plans to launch its own mobile platform have been rolling along for several years, but is still seeking a route to market.

There is more interest in #Linux than ever, and it's not always obvious to new users where to get started.

Using Linux is just like using Mac or Windows-- with a pointy-clicky graphical interface. No big deal there, and Linux supplies the added bonus of an extremely powerful command-line interface, which is far more sophisticated and capable than the CLI in Max OS X and Microsoft Windows. You don't have to use it, it's there for anyone who wants it, and it isn't a big deal to learn it.
