Getting to Know Your Child: An Interview

Time is fast changing, and so is your child. As years go by, your child learns new things, grows bigger, and sees things differently. Don’t you have a plan talking to him or her to know your precious loved one better?

Likes and dislikes
Is a pink color still appealing to her? Is Superman still his superhero? How about eating vegetables instead of junk food? Take a look at the possible changes that happened to your child.

Activities or Hobbies
It might be possible that your child was influenced by others that could change his or her hobbies. You don’t know that she already likes to dance or sing. Or, your boy already wants to learn biking or swimming.

Goals and Memories
Last year, your child wanted to be a doctor but now, he already wants to be a lawyer. She dreamed to be a businesswoman but now, she wants to be a teacher. Favorite past memories might also change depending on what he or she loves to keep remembering.

Get to know your child better through a not-so-serious interview but a fun one. Don’t forget to record it in a journal to track the changes.

What can parents say about their children and our learning center?

One parent says, “My son has matured A LOT! He has made many friends and LOVES his teachers.” And another asserts, “All of the teachers care for all of the children in the building and build a relationship with them even if they are not in their specific class. I couldn’t be happier thank you Future Generation!”

Trivia Quiz

Managing the classroom requires a teacher to:

A.  Hire more employees
B.  Put the children to sleep often
C.  Juggle more than one task
D.  Take more personal time off

Answer: C

A teacher should do multitasking every day. He or she is required to manage the classroom not only in teaching but also in keeping the environment safe from unnecessary noise and other unbecoming situations. In spite of that, the job is still fulfilling, especially if you know that your pupils are learning and developing.

How to Make Achievable New Year’s Resolutions

Since our childhood, we have already been writing about New Year’s Resolutions. Now, it’s your turn to teach your own child on how to make an achievable goal for this year.

You can follow the familiar S.M.A.R.T. acronym that learning centers are also practicing. Create plans that are: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.

Here is a sample list from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP):
-I will try hard to clean up my toys by putting them where they belong.
-I will let my parents help me brush my teeth twice a day.
-I will learn how to help clear the table when I am done eating.

Kids, 5 to 12 years old
-I will always wear a helmet when riding a bike, scooter, or skateboard.
-I will tell an adult about any bullying that I see or hear about to do what I can to help keep the school safe for everyone.
-I promise that I'll do my best to follow our household rules for video games and Internet use.
