One of my vivid memories - my mother dressed in a sleeveless yellow suit, maroon bindi, and Liberty slippers. That day my mother asked a neighbor's son to take our pictures. Mr. Gupta's son had a fancy camera. My mother paid for the camera roll and later got those pictures developed from Rajindra Studio, Ambala. Growing up, I never liked any other makeup. I still don't. But I have this strange fixation with bindi. I think it is because of my mother. She looks a million bucks in maroon Shilpa Bindi. Also, I loved Shilpa Bindi TV Commercial as a kid. I still remember the jingle - Shilpa char-chand lagaye.

P. S. Which one is correct - संवरी or सवरी? I'm going with सवरी to maintain consistency in Devanagari and Roman Hindi.

I think it's true. Most creative people are lonely. Those who are not, crave solitude. It brings us closer to our inner self. We reflect. We ponder. We understand the finer nuances of human emotions. And we write better. Do you think all artists are lonely? Or is it only valid for poets?

I don't like reading a certain genre. But this is 2018. I wanted to do something new. I picked up one from those books I buy when I go out and have a strong urge to stack my bookshelves. So while shopping for furniture at Ikea one day, I bought 'Grace and the Guiltless' from The Dollar Store nearby in Vaughan.

This novel is a story of Grace whose family is brutally murdered by 'The Guiltless Gang.' She is the lone survivor who must take revenge. So she does. Read this novel for its impeccable narration and not-so-orthodox ending.

P. S. I love Book Photography. I took these pictures while reading this book.

As we all know I love #Masaan. This post is inspired by this brilliant movie. I hope you all like this couplet. It's little sad but has hope in it.

Yesterday my husband came home all huffing and puffing. He used stairs instead of the lift. We live on the 12th floor. You'd applaud his dedication towards his weight loss program. But wait! After a glass of water, he declared, 'It's been days we ate something nice.' BTW, I made Hakka Noodles and Eggless Date Cake for lunch. As we all know I'm a pativrata nari, I asked what he wanted to eat. After a lot of deliberation, we picked Dubki Wale Aloo with Plain Paratha. No matter how fancy we eat, we always come back to the desi delicacies. I love coffee. I try different versions wherever I go. But when I was in the freezing-picturesque-heavenly mountains of New Hampshire, all I wanted was a cup of Masala Chai. This post is for all those who love desi food and chai, of course.

Also, after repeated reminders, I'm including text in Roman Hindi.
