The grounds are beautiful and the pools and water park are well maintained. The beach was pretty, but swimming access was difficult with all the rocks. The food was ok, but with all the different restaurants located around the resort, you'd expect to get different food at each location...but it's pretty similar across the board. The staff was helpful and mostly friendly, but not super impressive. For the price, I expected our accommodations to be a little nicer than they were.

I booked a trip to Sandos Caracol last minute for my boyfriend and I through Groupon and I'm glad I did! I upgraded us to the Select Club option which granted us access to an adult-only pool and beach clubhouse which included waited service for drinks, additional food/snack options and a Select Club only restaurant for breakfast and lunch. It was worth the extra money so I recommend that! Yes, the beach is a bit rocky but it was nothing that prevented us from swimming in the ocean. If you have sensitive feet, water shoes would be a good thing to bring but it was nothing I wasn't used to growing up swimming in rocky lakes and rivers! Plus once you got past the rocky spots, there was plenty of soft sand to enjoy. There are Mayan ruins on resort plus a whole eco focus so I know I enjoyed walking around and checking out everything that had to offer. We walked right up to the cenote on Thursday morning and were able to go swimming in it by ourselves so it was like a private experience. All in all it was a great time!

I spent one glorious week at this resort with my daughter and young grandson and will definitely return! I loved everything about this resort. The grounds were beautiful and well kept with lovely walkways through the lush landscape, there was a variety of nice restaurants, and I liked the fact that the rooms were spread out instead of one huge high rise facility. The accommodations were well suited for both adults and families with children, and there were adult-only places where the noise of children could be avoided. The staff was always very friendly, and I appreciated the fact that the resort is proud of the native culture and seeks to educate the guests about that history through evening programs. I highly recommend this resort for anyone of any age!

Very nice for the price and family. Stayed in room 3404. This area was close to water park ,cenote and front lobby not far from anything on this all inclusive resort. There's wild life walking around property which adds a nice touch. Had to use the on-site doctor for my son. She is terrific. Had a great week there. There are three tiers: Regular booking, or upgrade to use more as an Elite or use Select which is adults only area like pools and Beach chair area. Hotel staff in lobby will try to get you to upgrade when you check-in( it's a way for the workers to make some money in commission) but don't be thrown off by this. The people are nice and take a "no thank-you" very well. I would go back again. Says gratuity is included in package. Tipping is well appreciated. Foreigners from Germany sitting by us in the Italian buffet restaurant talked about how privileged Americas act but leaves no tip and act like they need to be served from head to toe. I try my best in speaking there language which I have learned a bit growing up in San Francisco, get my own drinks and I tipped the waiters for trying to help me or make me a drink, the bag boy at Walmart, the maid and everybody regularly. They are very appreciative for it. Wages are around $5.00 a day there so I would tip $5.00 mostly. But slide it in on a hand shake with a "gracias".

The food is about the only thing decent we are booked here for 8 nights and day one the rooms are very dissapointing have fun trying to have more then 3 things plugged in to charge and no coffee pot and the staff is rude the ac sucks the beach is full of rocks so good luck trying to swim in the ocean with out hurting your feet with these large sharp rocks. The room cleanse is very poor and if you have a kid staying in your room or a teen age girl like we have there is no door for privacy in the shower we have tried to get things changed and so far I have 6 hours of my expensive vacation wasted on dealing with these idiots even the manager is very unprofessional... it feels like your staying at a motel 6 in a jungle infested with spider and cockroaches I would try to stay away from this resort if at all possible like I said I booked for 8 days and I have 7 more nights of hell In this resort on a vacation that was suposed to be a great time and a graduation gift for my daughter ..... Don't make the same mistake I did !!!!!!!!!

Rooms are old but acceptable. They need to be renovated. Some of the furniture is broken, and there's no dresser, just a closet and three shelves. Beach is okay; water is gorgeous but inside it is very rocky. Food is sub par. Pool is busy. Drinks are okay, but often too sweet. House liquor is terrible -- you need to ask for regular bottom shelf, i.e. Jose Cuervo and Smirnoff. Grounds are nice, and wildlife is cute. Sometimes the paths smell like sewage.

Loved it. Super fun for families great pools, watersides, unlimited food and drinks from bars everywhere. Even the mini-fridge is stocked daily in your room. There are several sales pitches you have to deal with butsl that's part for the course. Grounds are immaculate and expansive with plenty of activities. Shopping, restaurants, spa, and all here for enjoyment. Free umbrellas when it rains. Beach is a little rocky, so bring water shoes. Pool party is fun for all ages. Would definitely recommend for families.

I stayed with my wife at Sandos Caracol in January 2016 and had the time of my life! We stayed in the adults-only select room (the upgrade is worth it!). The room was perfectly clean and the staff cleaned our room spotless daily. The resort itself is BEAUTIFUL. You are in the lap of luxury when you are there. The staff was SO NICE to us! Everyone was helpful and polite. The food was top notch and there are like 9 restaurants to choose from. This was my first all-inclusive experience and it is totally the way to go. I cannot say enough good things about Sandos Caracol and I will be returning. The beach was amazing, there are pools everywere you turn, there is a cantina waiting for you every time you turn around, and all of this is carved out of beautiful jungle! It was so cool to see the exotic animals everywhere (and they were NOT a nuisance at all). It is a BIG place, though, so bring comfortable walking shoes because you will get your exercise. I can't imagine giving this resort any less than 5 stars (of course my wife and I stayed in the upgraded room area so maybe the standard rooms aren't as nice- from what I saw, though, they looked exactly the same just smaller in size. Bascially, we had a jacuzzi and more space and were located in an adults-only area.) I loved that the place was modeled as a family friendly resort- it was heart-warming to see so many families having fun together in this wonderful place. The weather was upper 70's to low 80's everyday with no rain and the low never got below 68. Perfect! I hear that the week before had some rain but there was only one passing shower for us the whole week. In all, I couldn't have asked for a better place to be on Vacation. It was truly the sun, sand and ocean tropical vacation getaway. I highly recommend! PS We did do the timesharish-like presentation where they try to sell you some type of frequent-vacationer plan. But, it was far too expensive for us and really would be only a deal for very frequent vacationers. But, they were polite, there was no pressure, we were not "detained" (I had heard some stories) and it was fairly brief. In exchange for our time we received a voucher for car rental savings (you can rent a car right from the resort and go to Tulum to see the ruins or go into Playa del Carmen sightseeing- both activities I highly recommend also. It was super easy and totally reasonably priced and I had a good experience with the car rental folks). GO TO SANDOS CARACOL AND HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!
