We were there last week for vacation and we were robbed from the safe deposit box inside of our room! When we spoke with Diane Perez and Gabriel Alcocer the "Managers" for customer service. They did not acknowledge that it happened and said first they will investigate us to see if were telling the truth!!! Not only were we robbed but also insulted, as if we were the suspects. We wanted to cancel the rest of our stay but they would not refund nothing and even downgraded our room when we requested to be in a more secure room. At the 2nd room there were roaches, the phone did not work, bathroom without towels. My family and I have been traveling to Playa del Carmen for vacation frequently over the last 13 years, at this point, we will never deal with Sandos Caracol Eco Resort again.

1.- The main pool was really dirty 2.- Mosquitos couldn't walk anywhere without getting bit 3.- food sucked!!! 4.- everything is far away from hotel room it felt like you had to walk a mile to get anywhere. And hope to not get lost It was a horrible experience for my family and I. Only thing we enjoyed was our ride out of their this place really sucks ass

Great Place to stay in Mexico. The staff were very nice and the food was good. Would have given 5 stars if the beach was less rocky.

The resort was quite cheap. Other resorts had more pools., and several buffets that were open all day. The buffet served mostly pasta, salad, chicken, and hamburger/hotdogs, not mexian food, not tropical food, not seafood. The one restaurant that did serve seafood was pretty skimpy. My soup had one piece of shrimp, one chopped ring of calamari, and 1/3 of a scallop. The linguini had only 2 shrimp in it. The drinks at the bars in the resort was very inconsistent (one would be half liquor and too strong while others would not be blended well) and most of the staff only knew how to make a small amount of drinks. The beach was horrible. The water was very murky. The water had only scummy rocks in it and you'd need shoes to walk in the water without cutting up your feet. There was a ton of seaweed in the water. I only went in the ocean once. The beach was also very small. There was barely anything to do compared to other resorts I've stayed at in Mexico. Definitely would never ever come to this resort again.

We had a great time there! not your typical party resort. There's so much to see and do. The food was great, the staff were all friendly and helpful. Do be aware, this resort is in the jungle! There are mosquitos to deal with! The have repellant stations set up, but it a very good idea to bring your own. Also, the beach isn't pure white sand like at the artifically constructed beaches in Cancun. These are fairly rocky. That makes them much more interesting for snorkeling, though! Oh, and because it's an eco minded resort, there is no bottled water in your room's mini fridge. Instead you get a water cooler in your room. It would be a good idea to bring a water bottle with you. Some rooms don't have many power outlets, so if you have a lot of gadgets that need charging, bring a powerbar too!

My family and I got back from Sandos Caracol yesterday. We absolutely loved it! I can't think of one thing that I didn't like. It was amazing. Every single employee was VERY friendly and super nice. We stayed there for a week, and by the time we left, all the employees were like family to us, and the resort was like a home away from home. We met so many new people and had so much fun. The drinks on the beach are super good, and the entertainment comity is amazing! They started a game of volleyball with us, along with some other people on the beach. We played for 2 hours straight, and by the end of the game, we were all best friends. Then, one of the members, Michelle, invited us to do Zumba with her. The Zumba was so much fun! There are also shows every night that are awesome! One of them was Freddy Jackson (Michael Jackson) and it was phenomenal! I felt like I was in an MJ concert! The day we left was the worst day ever. It was so hard! I wanted to stay forever! The employees made sure to tell us that we need to come back next year because they loved our family. It was heartbreaking leaving them. There are so many more things that I could talk about. It is just simply amazing. Five stars is not near enough to rate it. This is by far the best resort and vacation ever!

Booked a ocean view with balcony. It was disappointing to say the least. We arrived around 10:30pm and checked into a room with no view of the ocean, however a great view of all the duct work, no balcony, an empty mini bar and a broken TV. I immediately called the front desk and was told that the hotel was full and we wouldn't be able to move until the next day. After asking for the mini bar to be stocked and the TV to be fixed, the desk clerk offered that since we were moving rooms tomorrow could we just live with the issues. I explained that it was unacceptable and after several calls and trips to the service desk our mini bar was stocked and the TV was replaced about 1am. The next morning when I inquired about our new room I was told we would have to check out of our current room at 12 and our new room wouldn't be available until after 4. We had to pack up all of our stuff and leave it with the concierge. Upon receiving our new room key we grabbed our bags and headed up. Much to our dismay, the new room didn't have a balcony either although the view was markedly better. It may seem trivial, but I picked the package I did because my girlfriend talked about having our morning coffee on the balcony. My girlfriend was pretty disappointed and said she would go talk to the front desk. When she questioned the clerk she was handed another room key and told she could see if that room (with a balcony) was more to her liking. She took the key and headed to the new room. Upon opening the door she was greeted by a man with no clothes on standing there staring at her in disbelief. My girlfriend was horrified. She slammed the door shut and returned the key to the front desk in tears and told them what happened. The girl had no response and we never received an apology from anyone at the hotel. At this point we decided we would just be content with the room we had and make the most out of all the other good during our vacation. We even used the in house computer to leave a note for someone in management to contact us so we could let them know about our issues. It has been months and no one has contacted us.
