The foundation of any effort to get more students admitted to college is to ensure that they learn to read and write well -- literacy.  The CCSS and PARCC (or whatever test group a state enacts) are increasing the literacy load on students without providing evidence-based literacy teaching and learning.

It is a fact that most teachers, which includes classroom, reading and special education, do not have any training in dyslexia and language learning disabilities.  This needs to change. Additionally, because students are not identified with a language learning difference, they don't receive appropriate evidence based literacy programs.

Please learn more about the effort taking over state houses in 45 states to ensure students with language disabilities like dyslexia receive an education. Cookie cutter programs, programs that are unproven by evidence -- these do not work.
