Maps can be misleading. This old episode of West Wing shows you how to look at the world map in an entirely different way.

🎃🎃 You know you're a belly dancer when you find yourself thinking how cute your cat would look wearing a King Tut costume for Halloween. 🎃🎃

🦇🦇 Do you wear a Halloween-themed costume for your performances this time of year? If so, what does it look like? 🦇🦇

A year ago today, when I was in Senegal, we received a warning about a possible terror threat. Here's what I wrote about it in my travel blog:

ON THIS DAY IN BELLY DANCE HISTORY: Farid al-Atrache was born October 19, 1910. He was a Druze prince, whose family brought him from Syria to Egypt when he was 9 years old. He was a multi-talented entertainer who was a virtuoso on the oud. He also sang, acted, and composed music. He was a huge star, both on the theatrical stage and on the silver screen.

This photo shows him in a scene with Samia Gamal, who co-starred with him in six movies. Their on-screen chemistry was magical, and for a time they were a couple offscreen as well.

👻👻 You know you're a belly dancer when you buy a witch's broom at the costume shop to use as a prop instead of a cane in your show. 👻👻

💀💀 Have you ever loaned a belly dance costume item to someone else to wear for Halloween? If so, how did it go? Did it come safely home to you, or was it damaged? 💀💀
