Publisher/editor Scott Buttram is back on "The Best Story I've Heard Today" talking religion education in Georgia. How much is too much? Does it change depending on the religions you're discussing? Can you talk about certain parts of the world without religion? What about potential variants? Some of those topics are being played out in Walton County, Georgia, and in this podcast.

Alabama's economy is in dire straits with the legislature, after a general session and two special sessions, passing some sort of budget at almost the 11th hour. Bob Davis of The Anniston Star joined ‘The Best Story I've Heard Today" to explain what the legislature did and what they didn't do.

Every 3 minutes in the U.S., someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. For many patients, a bone marrow transplant is the best chance for survival. Some 70% of patients —nearly 14,000 a year—must rely on a benevolent stranger to donate. Right now an estimated 6 out of 10 patients are unable to find a compatible donor.

Now, 10 Alabama news outlets are asking the judge to remove that seal, making them open like the vast majority of Alabama's court documents, so that journalists can do their work.

+Bob Davis the editor of The Anniston Star joins us on "The Best Story I've Heard Today" to talk about the story.

Today's installment of the new podcast. Basic premise: highlighting a story you might have missed, and pointing out its virtues until you go find the thing. Today's guest was +André Natta , talking about an excellent New York Times piece on New Orleans, 10 years after Katrina. Give it a listen. Andre is always worth a listen.
