Amazing NPR video (7 minutes) on photojournalist, Bobby Hanvey who chronicled the people of Northern Ireland during the Troubles.  Fabulous old photos.  #ireland #northernireland #art #photography #journalism #NPR
Bobbie Hanvey is a prolific photojournalist and radio interviewer from Northern Ireland. His son Steafán is a musician, currently on tour in America. In a video featuring their photos and music, father and son reflect on art, their relationship, and the period of turmoil in Northern Ireland known as The Troubles.

You're probably right +Mindie Burgoyne, but I like being able to write a blog on my phone, especially the silly ones. I'll have a second podcast out this summer on Wordpress, but I've been kinda spoiled not having to maintain Ossurynot.com on top of the work sites I do.
I'll probably continue to use blogger for silliness under 750 words. And that's kind of the point. Do I really want to keep up a site for when I need to spout off about wooden matches or potential ex-Nazi beard admirers?
On the other hand, if I really didn't care, I wouldn't worry about photo alignment...

Going to Dublin this year?  It's a big city.  And it's more of a European city than an Irish city.  But there are some great things to there.  Here are my top 10.

Thinking about how people demonstrate remembrance.
Murals in Belfast.  The Troubles are just a hint of what they used to be, but people still want to remember.

Sadly I don't remember Bobby.  But I'm with you.  Always amazed that someone could intentionally do that.  Looks like he's remembered a lot in Belfast.

White Park Bay in County Antrim is an enchanted beach. ... and it's a stop on our Ireland tour in September.
White Park Bay sits on the Antrim Coast between Ballintoy and the Giant's Causeway. It's a two-mile long, crescent shaped beach with series of dunes that run up to a chalk cliff border.  The landsc...

The Crown Bar in Belfast is pretty famous and it does stand out on Great Victoria Street, even with competition like the Europa Hotel and the Grand Opera House.  The bar is sea of tile mosaics - inside and out.

Across the threshold at the front doors is a mosaic with a royal crown situated between the words Crown and Bar.  The non-Anglo Irish have fun with that ... saying they get to "Tramp on the Crown" as they walk through.  Some even say that the non-anglo owners who oversaw the installation had this thought in mind.

Anglo Irish, Irish or anyone who loves a pub, this is one to put on the bucket list. Since its 1885 restoration it's become an outstanding example of a Victorian Gin Palace.
