While Google+ is about to die, I figured I'd make one last post:

Fucking. Vote. (USA Voters, sorry International people).

Early voting should be available for a lot of states and their midterms now so get your ass out there and vote.

And yes, I identify as a liberal which means I hope you'll vote Democrat to pull this sinking ship away from the ridiculousness of...well everything going on right now. But how you voted isn't my business so w/e.

Excuses such as "Both parties are corrupt/evil" (Again, look at what's going on), "It won't change anything", "But X isn't perfect so I don't want to vote for them" or general whinging will be ignored. Yes. Things suck. This democracy isn't perfect. But sitting on our hands will not improve things. Making protest votes will only hurt those you claim to love and respect.

Voting matters.

This is mostly for people on the left. Not sure if you guys noticed but a lot of people held their noses and voted for a guy who's the antithesis of their beliefs simply because he was willing to pander to them. Even if he didn't believe their bullshit. Even if he bragged about grabbing people by the pussy, mocked disabled people and generally presented himself as a terrible human being. And yea, we might have to vote in some people we don't like 100% in 2018 and especially 2020. But that's the consequence of not showing up in 2012, 2014 and 2016 and letting the extremist Republicans take control of local states, Congress, the White House and eventually the Supreme Court.

Voting matters.

If we want things to truly change, we will need to do the hard work. Just like the Tea Party did. Just like the Republicans did. Just like certain Christian organizations did. If we truly want a secular United States that treats people fairly, we will have to work at it. And that starts now. This is the baseline you can do as an American citizen. If you can't even do that much, just going out and voting? Then why are you even here?

If voting didn't matter, then the Republicans wouldn't be so hell bent at making voting as hard as possible, purging people from their voting registrations, attempting to implement bullshit voter ID laws or implementing racist gerrymandering districts. Among other things.

As for those that identify as conservative/right leaning. I don't know how to talk to you anymore after these past few years. I really don't. That's, all I've got to say.

As for those voting third party, I honestly wish you wouldn't but its your choice to make. Just realize that the chances of your party winning right now are almost 0%. And protest voting against the two-party system doesn't work. (Just, look at the past several elections). We have to win in order to change the system. That's what the GOP did. So. Just, keep that in mind when you go to vote.

So. You all have one monthish to make a plan and IMPLEMENT that plan on voting.
Here's a great voting resource: https://www.vote.org/.
Uber and Lyft are offering free/discounted rides to polling places.
Organizations are working harder than ever this year to make sure people can get to voting polls. See what's available in your area and volunteer if you can.

Now. I've said my piece. Feel free to get angry at me in the comment section, I'll have the notifications turned off so you can't wake me up. However. Failure to respect G+'s rules and failure to not be a dick or not post spam will result in your comments being deleted and your account being reported. So, don't be a dick.

Well, I guess this is goodbye. I won't be posting on here anymore since the service will be shutting down. You can find me on Twitter at @kingisaaclinksr where I rant about badly designed games, politics and so on.

It's been a... Interesting run on Google+. But I think I'm done with any further Google social attempt and look towards less invasive services.

Yes, I have a Facebook profile but it's not open to the public.

In the interest of being open minded, I gave this show a shot to see how cryptocorrency could be used to make journalism better in the 21st Century. And after going through their 14 episodes of their first season, I listened to them talk about the Token sale go live. And after talking about a lot of complicated tech and terms, the company running the tokens simply added an option to directly buy into the tokens. To directly subscribe to the news. And I sat back going.... What?!

And I'm sorry, I really tried to go along with this and was really curious. But I have no idea why crypto is a better platform than subscriptions, ad revenue, Patreon/Drip, Donations or the other ways we have of supporting creators and journalism. Even Manoush and Jen have largely failed to answer this question of why crypto is a better way of supporting journalism when compared to the other methods.

Crypto is hard to wrap your head around, requires pretty extensive education to understand and so on. How non-tech people are supposed to get on board with this has not been answered. And this is ignoring the problems with crypto like e-waste and environmental impact.

I get this is the experimental stage but so far I'm left feeling cold. I don't know how I'm supposed to get people on board with crypto when simply getting people to donate is challenging. (For understandable reasons).

What this feels like to me is an overly complicated solution to a problem we've already kinda solved. Or are in the process of fixing in other ways.

I'm done with this show. I wish them luck.

Btw guys, there's been some clear evidence that voter purges are going on so, you should double check just to make sure you're registered. Even if you think you are, it can't hurt to double check. I haven't heard anything about North Carolina doing it, but it's a GOP-run state so, ya know, it's possible/probable.

That's not good for Intel as you can buy an equivalent Ryzen 2700X for $300 on Newegg right now. And yes, you should do that, $400 is overpriced AF.

So, my immediate problem with this premise is that you have to buy this Lifeline service and I can predict a couple of plots coming down the pipe of evil corporation being evil, that we shouldn't mess with time, that people are imperfect, this is hugely classist as poor people can't afford it, etc.

But I think the worse problem is this: this is being sold as a service and one of the tenants is to not mess with fate (even though they are but I'm ignoring that). Except, if you want this to be a successful capitalist business (which I assume they do), then you want to sell this to >everyone<. At some point, you're going to reach a critical mass where the company is affecting time in a huge way.

Also, there's no way this technology stays secret after a certain point. Too many people would know. Too many people would ask questions. And so on.

My interest kinda died in the opening bit because I feel like the show isn't going to answer those problem and focus more on the action and SFX. Also, it just kinda creates too many problems. I get this is a YouTube series but yeah.

When Ted Cruz tries to run a smear campaign on Beto O Rourke and rolls a natural one on his dice, this is the result.

I'm ashamed to admit that despite my best attempts to be a good person, even recently I silently judged a few people who were severely obese. Without knowing anything about them. Without knowing if they even tried. I just....judged them. I didn't say anything or, well hopefully, look at them sideways. But I still did it. And I can't take that back.

I'm considered overweight/obese these days and adding 30 pounds since I moved to North Carolina didn't help. I did lose 5 pounds recently which is progress. And while try as I might to be ok with myself, there are still moments in time when I think "I shouldn't eat that cookie. The people around me will judge me". "I should wait till I'm last in line so I don't look like an obsessive eater who can't control himself". "Fuck, I failed and ate this doughnut because my day has been so shitty that I just needed something, anything to feel good". And now I have a compulsion to say fuck it and eat 20 doughnuts instead. I love food, even when its a detriment to me.

It got to the point that my back started having trouble supporting me just walking around a mall. That would be a definite low point. And while I have recovered through physical therapy and can walk normally again without agonizing amounts of pain, the shame remains.

It's especially worse when it comes to relationships. I constantly put myself down, even jokingly, that I'll never have a girlfriend because of my weight. That I'll never have sex because I'm that unattractive. The self-hatred here is real. And while I've come a long way since College, these thoughts are there. Draining, pushing my depression into overdrive and making life real shitty. I can't even look at my face in the mirror some days, much less look at my own naked body. There's a deep and unabiding shame.

And I hear from friends around the same weight that they struggle with these same issues. Even when they have a girlfriend/boyfriend making love to them on a regular basis, they still feel this same shame. That one day, the SO will find someone thinner, hotter and leave. And I cry for them as much as myself because I can see that the SO doesn't care about their weight, just cares about all of them. I just wish I could see the same thing about myself.

That all being said, I've been trying to adjust my outlook that it's not about the weight, but about my lifestyle. I don't care about shedding my weight to 200 pounds or less. I'm a big guy regardless and getting to that point will probably be unhealthy. Besides, I kinda love myself this way even when I hate myself. It's...a weird dichotomy. No one ever said I was normal though.

Still, that's not to say I'm perfect. Far from it. If there's one failing about myself (among others that is), it's how I view myself. I've been trying to take more selfies just to get used to how I look. Because I should be ok with how I look...not ashamed.
