Working on my husband's HATTON line: his GGM Nancy D. (HATTON) WILLOUGHBY (1854-1938) > 2GGF Hiram F. HATTON (1816-1888) > 3GGF Ephraim HATTON (1784-1861) > 4GGF Adam HATTON (1730-1831).

Nancy was born in Powell County, KY, Hiram was born in Montgomery County, KY, Ephraim was born in Westmoreland County, PA, and Adam was born in PA.

Anyone else share this line?

After searching through several 1940 census EDs in Ohio and California, I decided it was time to contribute and switched my focus to indexing at FamilySearch.

My FIL (born 16 May 1911 in Winchester, Clark County, KY, died 21 Mar 1978 in Houston, Harris County, TX) has been very difficult to research. I have a copy of his SS-5, dated 26 Feb 1940, on which he lists his residence as 2 Park Place, Cin'ti, OH. I thought I would finally find him on a Federal Census --- but not so. There is another family, unrelated as far as I know, that was living at 2 Park Place in Cincinnati in 1940. Furthermore, the family says they were living in the "same place" on 1 Apr 1935.

Where, oh where is my FIL????

Anyone have any ideas on how my family can share family history information with each other long distance? We've discovered that we're all working on our history ... some of us are doing genealogical research and others are writing their memories. How can we combine the stories and the data in one place we can all access?

Took a break from indexing the 1940 Census, and downloaded 3 webinars from Michael John Neill (author of Casefile Clues and Genealogy Tip of the Day). Today's downloads were: "The 1940 Census The Free Image Sites", "Creating Your Own Genealogy Blog" and "Genealogical Proof Standard". You can find the list of available webinar downloads at http://www.casefileclues.com/webinars.htm.

G'morning! I'm thinking I will look for my family in the 1940 census today, and come back to FIL later. He's still missing in OH.

I double-checked the ED he should be on according to the address he gave on 26 Feb 1940 on his SS-5, but neither him or his wife are listed anywhere on it.

Hopefully, my side will be much easier to find!

Let Congress know you stand for America's brave veterans. Add your name to PVA's Wall of Support for America's veterans. It takes only a minute - it doesn't cost a thing - and it could make a lifetime...
