Spatial Relations #5 - An Interview with Thomas Quinn.

Shun Sasaki is a laconic graphic designer who’s ready for the world stage. He explores the forgotten byways of ghost towns looking for anonymous signboards, broke through his girlfriend’s usual reserve with his poster “Typography,” and thinks the Norwegian-British design team “Non-format” is super cool.

Vangool names an “obsolete writing machine” as the most beautiful man-made thing she’s ever seen and, like Harley Earl, grooves on midcentury automotive curves. Characterized by sumptuous tactility, pastel palettes, and delicate patterns, we suspect Ms. Vangool’s fem-forward design team could transform even Zouch Magazine's Mr. Zouch into the crown prince of Luxe-Fashionista.

When Mr. Zouch reached into his jacket pocket and found his spectacles were missing, he immediately commanded a full search of the house. But we turned up little more than three buttons, a canvas bag of dimmicks, the bones of a long-forgotten rodent, and an uncomfortably explicit love letter that seemed to confirm Mr. Zouch’s periodic boasts about his youthful conquests.

Laboring under Mr. Zouch's stern gaze, the editors post as much as they can. But visitors are also invited to use the form on the right to register their own blips.

And there's no waiting. Who has time for delayed gratification in the 21st century?

Dominic Muttel is a photographer, designer, and artist based in Colorado.

Dominic is a “post movement” designer who cut his teeth on skateboards and reads the contemporary design landscape like a mathematician. (It’s “exponential,” he says.) Dominic suggests designers and artists should be aware of the dynamics of placement and function and feels the work of Frank Gehry and Daniel Libeskind represents a certain “vanity of action.”

Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp — two members of Dominic’s design dream team — would probably have one or two things to say about this.

Recently, Mr. Zouch held his annual reading of the OED, which is as difficult for the editors to absquatulate from as it is for them to endure. This year, after many hours sipping port in the dank library of Zouch Manor, Elford finally came to the “Se’s” and, in due course, to the new entry (and word-of-the-year) “selfie.”

Some of Zouch’s editors have ties to Texas. Others hail from the deep South. Tensions between these two BBQ groups are well documented, and it’s nothing short of miraculous that we can all sit at Mr.Zouch’s conference table and pass a civilized moment. When we break out the grill, though, the gloves come off, and mama-centered pejoratives, assertions of dishonor, and sardonic “suh’s” fill the air.
