Join Internews’ President Jeanne Bourgault and Marjorie Rouse, Internews’ Senior VP of Programs, to discuss where we’ve been, and where we’re heading, at Internews. In 2015, Internews developed a five-year strategic framework – Information Changes Lives – based on the belief that high quality, local information is a root solution to advancing social, economic, and political progress. We’re excited to share the results of this process and gather feedback from our key supporters and donors about the future of Internews.

Following the EU-Turkey deal and dramatic changes in Greece’s refugee policy, large numbers of Syrian refugees are now stranded in camps with reduced or no access to critical information and communication. Internews is on the ground responding to these needs with an innovative service called “News that Moves” a news service designed for refugees as they navigate the dangerous path along the Balkan Route.

Join Internews and our partners for an intimate, invitation-only discussion on the refugee crisis in the Balkans, the role of news and information in the scope of the broader crisis.

Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees have made a brutal choice. When faced with the option of remaining in an increasingly war-torn country versus the risks of treacherous ocean crossings and long treks through uncertain terrain as winter closes in, thousands have chosen the latter.

This choice is made more difficult and dangerous by a lack of useful information along the way. For increasing numbers, News that Moves is a lifeline, offering timely information that will keep them safe and guide their decision-making in a shifting policy landscape. Internews is working to deliver the trusted, reliable information that will make a difference.

Join us for an exclusive edition of Field Connections on Google Hangout on Air with:
• Stijin Aelbers, Humanitarian Advisor, Internews
• Alison Campbell, Senior Director of Global Initiatives, Internews
• Amanda Frankel, Senior Private Development Associate, Internews
• Britt Lake, Senior Director of Programs, GlobalGiving
• Claire Palmer, Major Gifts Director, Internews
