What causes bad posture?

"Bad posture is not just caused by the way you sit or stand, it's also caused by your nervous system. Basically your brain is like a computer and when it gets comfortable in a position, it makes those nerves and muscles get really tight. What happens is, your neck muscles become really lengthened and your back muscles become really lengthened and they loose their power."

When you have shoulder pain during bench pressing:

"Work on posture before bench pressing... by bringing the shoulders down in back and pinching the shoulder blades behind you... this opens up the chest. After you work on your posture, you want to work on stretching out the pectoralis muscle.

Take your [left] hand and put it on the wall with an open palm. Turn your body to the right and you will feel a stretching in front of the chest wall. [This] unlocks the nerves which gives power to the pectoralis muscle and that unlocks the pain."
