I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. Very professional , slightly expensive but you get what you pay for. I've been using this surgery for almost 18 years and not had a problem yet.

great service, especially when my dog had a really bad ear infection which necessitated taking the ear canal out.

I have found Companion Care brilliant especially Vera and Anthony. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. My dog absolutely loves going there, but I think that's mainly because he likes going around the store. However it's great to be able to take my dog to the vets and he enjoys himself! I would highly recommend them.

Fantastic vets! Especially Macky and Vera, who are great with my dogs, especially one who has fear aggression. Also Anne, who works on reception is also a behaviourist and has helped us immensly :-)

Awful service. Don't use this Vet franchise. Anywhere. I'm sure one or two of them must care about the animals - why would they have chosen that profession otherwise? But their human care is non-existent. Receptionists are curt to the point of being rude and clearly have little training or support from their superiors, giving them no autonomy to make decisions or use initiative. Our dog, whom has been registered at this Vet for years was recently injured so we took him to a near branch of Companion Care (NOT this Portsmouth one) as it was closer and the dog was bleeding heavily. The other branch patched him up poorly but promptly. When we took him down to this Portsmouth branch to ask them to re-apply dressings which had been hastily applied elsewhere as they had sloughed off overnight, these guys wanted to charge for the same treatment, stating 'he wasn't treated by us yesterday so we have to charge from the beginning.' We only needed a bandage checking and re-applying. EVEN AFTER the other branch had contacted them and asked them to re-bandage as a gesture of goodwill between industry colleagues, CC Portsmouth refused to do so without charging a further consultation fee. So you have one branch who can't bandage a Dog's leg effectively another who will not act with compassion (nor common courtesy). Small Claims Court ensues. It's a no from me, Simon.

Thank you Mike D, for your feedback. I am sorry to hear of your experience, and that you feel that way about our service. As I do not know the specifics of this case, I cannot comment on this forum, but I will address a few points in general. Every practice or business needs certain protocols in dealing with situations. This situation is something we train our staff for, and so I am surprised, and disappointed, to hear that you feel they were rude and lacked training. We have not had any other feedback about this aspect of our service for a long time. I am obviously keen to know more of the detail of this experience. Each Companion Care practice is a separate limited company. We are not branches of each other, and are all independent businesses. Consequently each practice could, in theory, have different management styles and clinical approaches, which have to be valid under the guidance of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. There are certain protocols that need to be followed when dealing with a patient who has been treated by another vet recently, and our staff were following the accepted protocol. I hope you pet recovering well now. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me at the surgery. Yours sincerely Antony Bielovich Practice Director and Partner

I have been using Companion Care for 15 years and would not go anywhere else. I have ex battery hens and there is always a vet there with expert knowledge. They know how important my hens are to me as well as all my other animals. The receptionists are fantastic and friendly. I cannot fault this practice.

The receptionst was really rude to me and would not apologize when I had to wait longer than they promised for my cat's test results. She said "it was not up to her".
