How do you find wonder in every moment? For me, this sense of awe is vital to my spiritual practice.

Want to know how I spent my summer? I've started a new blog feature on my MFA adventures!
I took a huge plunge this summer. Ever since I decided to pursue writing professionally, the idea of an MFA has floated through my mind every now and again...but nothing felt quite right.

What is it about NaNoWriMo that keeps me coming back, year after year?

If we acknowledge that “magic is the art of changing consciousness at will”, something I hold very dear, then it stands to reason that the act of shaping a world out of symbols on a page is a magical act. Art is magic, and magic is art, and this month, I’m recommitting myself to both.

Where do you go to find creative inspiration? One of my favorite places to look for magic is Stratford, Ontario. I just got home from a short trip there, and I think I've figured out what pulls me to the place; it's a living home for the Muses!
I realized that the magical nourishment I’ve always felt in Stratford comes from more than just the professional actors; it\'s a flourishing home for the Muses.

An eclectic weaver of words
Introduction

Jen McConnel first began writing poetry as a child. Since then, her words have appeared in a variety of magazines and journals, including Sagewoman, PanGaia, and The Storyteller (where she won the people’s choice 3rd place award for her poem, “Luna”).

A Michigander by birth, she now lives and writes in the beautiful state of North Carolina. When she isn’t writing, she teaches writing composition and yoga. Once upon a time, she was a middle school teacher, a librarian, and a bookseller, but those are stories for another time. Visit www.jenmcconnel.com to learn more
