The BPASS stellar population synthesis models (which include binary stars) are now available for use in Galacticus.
I'm making available a script which will convert the stellar population spectra from the BPASS project into Galacticus HDF5 format, so that they can be used in Galacticus calculations. Just drop the script into your Galacticu...

Just added a new feature that allows Galacticus to compute the evolution of the cosmic background radiation from the net emission of all model galaxies.
The development version of Galacticus (v0.9.3) gained a nice new feature today - the ability to compute the evolution of cosmic background radiation self-consistently from the population of galaxies formed in the model. This ...

Chris Power has provided a Mac OS10.8 binary executable of Galacticus which is now available for download. Visit this link for details of how to make use of it.

Two bugs were fixed in Galacticus today. The first affected Population III supernova energies in versions 0.9.1 and 0.9.2. It would only affect calculations performed using a non-instantaneous model for stellar populations (so, most models would be unaffected). The second affected the growth of black holes in version 0.9.2 only - it caused the spin and mass evolution of black holes to be incorrectly computed for black holes close to maximum spin. This could result in very small (and sometimes negative) black hole masses. Update to the latest revision to get fixes for these bugs.

Yesterday's updates to Galacticus v0.9.2 introduce dependencies on three additional Perl modules. If you update and recompile Galacticus v0.9.2 you'll first need to install: XML::SAX, XML::Validator::Schema, and List::Uniq. See pages 7 & 8 of the Galacticus documentation at http://users.obs.carnegiescience.edu/abenson/galacticus/Galacticus_v0.9.2.pdf for more details.

Galacticus now supports dark energy cosmologies!
Galacticus has recently (v0.9.2 revision 1809:c3577bea7b39) added support for more general dark energy cosmologies. It's always supported dark energy in the form of a cosmological constant, but since we don't know what dark e...

I've just posted a paper to arXiv, which is the first in a series that attempts to carefully explore constraints on Galacticus from observations of the galaxy population.
I've just posted this paper to arXiv (full resolution version here, but be warned, it' about 180Mb), which is the first in a series that attempts to carefully explore constraints on Galacticus from observations of the galaxy ...

A short tutorial on Galacticus' functionality to postprocess stellar spectra in various useful ways.
It's been quiet around here recently. Not because development of Galacticus has slowed down - quite the opposite, development is proceeding rapidly and v0.9.4 (to be released around September 2014) should have some big new fe...

Galacticus v0.9.2 is released!
We're happy to announce the release of Galacticus v0.9.2. As usual, you can get Galacticus direct from our repo at BitBucket, just use: hg clone -u v0.9.2 https://abensonca@bitbucket.org/abensonca/galacticus to grab v0.9.2, o...

Galacticus v0.9.2 has just been updated to interface with version 2.4 of Charlie Conroy's FSPS stellar population synthesis code. New stellar population spectra files should be generated automatically for you as needed.
