The 84-year-old Arlington Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C., needs $250 million for a total rebuild, according to the National Park Service. Even if patchwork repairs are done now, the bridge could still close in five years. "The bridge is a really good example of what happens when you defer maintenance," said Jonathan Jarvis, director of the NPS.
