Great unboxing, looks like a really good phone for the money, nothing short of sensor support seems to be off with it. Look forward to your full review :)

Yep, it's actually THE Commodore name being plastered on a cheap, generic Chinese phone...but at least it's a pretty decent spec'd cheap generic Chinese phone ;) Great to see the name being used for something tech related, though. Check 'em out :)

While I do understand that Chinese (and even Korean) manufacturers are trying to make themselves a bit different from one another, the chipset is one place that, unless you have the manufacturing capacity level of, say, Samsung, it's better left to the more established marks if you want to be competitive.

Huawei is a pretty big manufacturer, but they don't have the same silicon capabilities as Samsung and should stick to using MediaTek or Qualcomm chipsets lest what happens here happened. The Hisilicon Kirin 620 1.2GHz Octa Core, their first 64 bit offering, isn't in the same league as the latest from MediaTek, especially in the GPU department. It's using an outdated Mali 450MP4, used in the last generation, non 64 bit MTK6592. It will hurt the performance for sure, maybe not enough for most users to notice, which I'm sure they are counting on, but us geeks can and will call it when we see it. They should have just stuck with what works and been done with it.

Looks like a really decent phone otherwise, as is typical of Huawei. Look forward to the full review :-)

+s7yler Oh, I know you do a great job on the full reviews, that's why I like you so much :-) You need to take the time to get to know a phone before you can really know it's strengths and weakness'. I just don't see much of a point in an unboxing is all...but your right, I'll just wait for the full blow by blow from you, your worth the wait ;-)

Hi everybody!
This is my review of the UMI eMax, a very well rounded China phone with lots of power(40000 Antutu), a great 5.5" 1080p screen, MTK 6752 Octa Core processor running at 1.7Ghz with a Mali T760 GPU, 2GB of Ram, and 16GB of memory (in one single partition, nice). This also has a huge 3500mah battery with all day long life, even for a power user. It has multi day use for a moderate user easily.

But the best thing about this phone, and all UMI phones really, is the ease in which you can flash roms, backup and restore your phone, and simply customise it with the greatest of ease using a free download from UMI's site called RootJoy. It works seamlessly even on Windows 8.1, has a simple easily figured out UI, and is really a joy to use. Plus, if you still want to flash rom's without a computer or RootJoy, the eMax has a well developed Recovery mode available by simply pushing and holding the power up and power buttons at the same time, nice. Simply download the rom you want to use, use the above mentioned method, and BAM you got a custom rom installed, easy peasy :-) Congrat's to UMI for making such powerful tools available to use, all for free!

The rom I'm using in the above video comes from a forum in Spain called Moviles Dual Sim, and the rom is made by a mod called MANOWARACERO, it's based on the latest 4.4.4 KitKat rom by UMI, and it just plain rocks! See the video for all included in the rom, it's quite a bit, and it makes for a lot of good, stable fun using your eMax. Thanks to MANOWARACERO for uploading such a nice rom! Here's the link to it for all who want to try it out (it's a spanish site, but Google Translate works great!):

Well, that's it for now, if you like what you see please give a thumbs up and see you next time :-)

Wow, just checked out the US version of this phone...it kinda sucks=bad screen, puny battery and surprisingly poor performance despite having the same processor as its rival the Idol 3(Qualcomm 615) all while costing $50.00 more than this version. I hope the Hisilicon Kirin 620 is a better performer with better hardware besides said processor. Look forward to comparing them.

+s7yler Good points all, and I do always hear about Qualcomm having some sort of "lock" on the US due to it's superior band allotment due to deals they made a few years ago...but it really DOES suck not to be able to use LTE in some places. To be honest there are times that HSPA+ is all I need, it's plenty fast enough to run videos smoothly and playback streaming music with few if any pauses...but it is hard, I mean really hard, to recommend these phones to my friends/family without having LTE onboard. The performance is spectacular on the MT6752 chipset, most of the cameras are more than passable, and the screens, especially the FHD ones, are quite good. Plus, the final one, the prices are the icing here. That's why it's so frustrating to see no band support, but I guess we poor Americans(not to mention Canadians and Mexicans...) are just gonna have to suck it up and deal...like it or not. Thanks for having a serious conversation on this, most reviewers can't be bothered :-)

The worst PO in the Bronx, and then some. They never, ever deliver a package to your door, never leave a slip, and never redeliver....but they also never have your package there when you go to pick it up---it's always "on the truck"....but it's never delivered....catch 22 and a half. This place has had so many complaints against it but nothing ever seems to get done. Avoid at all costs if possible!! If you can't avoid this dump, I honestly pity you....
