Friends, if you haven't done so already, as kids get ready to go back to school tomorrow make sure that your sidewalks are clear for them to safely walk their route.

Top 10 Excuses for Not Biking to Work (and how to fix them) from Bike Walk CT:
#10 It’s Too Dangerous -
Most of us are creatures of habit. If we’ve always driven to work, we might only be familiar with the most heavily traveled roads. Take time on the weekends (by car or by bike) to search out what alternatives might be available. Local bike shops or clubs can be very helpful, as can online maps that feature bike-friendly directions. Practice your ride to work on a quiet weekend, beforehand.

If you can’t completely eliminate travel on a high-speed, or congested, road, make yourself as visible as possible (lights, reflectors, hi-vis clothing), obey the traffic laws, signal your turns, and make eye contact with merging drivers.

Happy to report that the Mill Plain Road Route cleared the Police Commission on 4/10. Now its just paint on road and signs in the ground and we're done!

What a great idea to easily measure bike traffic on the Mill Plain bike route and other future routes:

Congratulations to the East Coast Greenway for getting approval from the Police Commission to install ECG Route signage through our town. Hopefully we should see the signs by this summer! Here is the proposed route: http://ow.ly/iZ67D

Promoting a safer walking and bicycling environment in Fairfield, CT.
Introduction
We formed in January 2010 to advocate for a safer and more sustainable walking and biking environment in Fairfield, CT. Initially our goals are to support the Town's bicycle and pedestrian study that is currently underway; advocate for its recommendations; and educate residents about bicycle and pedestrian safety.
