I've started making postings to my Image Blog again. You can visit the blog here - http://www.bobatkins.com/pixel/index.php

For some reason I'm still trying to figure out, initial loading of the first page can be slow, but things speed up after that.

Looking for a "do it all" lens for your APSC DSLR? Sigma have just announce a new deal on their 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM lens (that's 28.8-480mm in full frame terms). There's now an $80 instant rebate on the lens, plus they are including the USB dock (for customizing focus and stabilization parameters) and a Sigma AML72-01 Achromatic Close-Up Lens (total value $110). You get all three for $499. That gives you coverage from 1:2 macro, through widangle to telephoto in a single lens which is just 4" long and weighs 20oz.

Just posted my review of the LensAlign and FocusTune system for setting focus microadjustment con your Canon DSLR ("Fine Tune" for Nikon DSLRs). LensAlign is the hardware part and FocusTune is the software. The system also allows you to quickly find the sharpest aperture of any lens.

I've just posted an article which describes some recent experiments looking at the effect of the light source on autofocus accuracy. Some interesting results, showing that the amount of IR present can affect focus for visible light.

A first look at Canon's new EF-S 18-135/3.5-5.6 IS USM. This lens uses a new focus moter system combining the best features of USM (fast operation) and STM (smooth focus). The lens is also the first Canon EOS lens that can, with the addition of the PZ-1, fitted with a power zoom feature, ideal for video work.

Here's my initial analysis of the new Canon EOS 80D. What's new? What's different from the 70D? Is it a good upgrade?
