After hearing rave reviews about Pizzeria Mozza, I had to check out the restaurant for myself. For the antipasti, our server recommended the cauliflower fritti, which was a hit. The batter was crispy and well-seasoned, and the aioli dipping sauce was a good accompaniment. We also ordered the artichoke dip of sorts, and while I love artichoke, the dish was too oily for me. After a few bites, I wished for some hot tea to cleanse all the oiliness from my palate. As for the pizzas, the funghi misti contained an abundance of flavorful mushrooms, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really a mushroom lover because all the fungi can get a little overwhelming. The "meat lovers" pizza had a great crust and the meats were delicious, especially the fennel sausage and even the bacon, which I usually don't prefer. The only drawback to this place is the overall greasiness of the dishes, which left me feeling uncomfortably full and sleepy post-lunch. I've always trusted chefs like Mario Batali who are more on the rotund side but this place is definitely a visit only in moderation.

Disappointed to report that this is no longer a restaurant worth visiting in LA. I say that fully acknowledging that the food is delicious. Get take out instead and skip the restaurant (and treacherous valet parking). They've rested on their laurels and nearly all the staff, from the manager, to the host, to our wait staff approached our 8-person birthday party dinner with attitude. Our birthday cake was immediately refused (no outside food), our reservation threatened 4 minutes into it's time slot (if you're party isn't here in 10 minutes, we're giving up your table), and we were repeatedly told (even during dinner!) that we needed to vacate the table within 2 hours. Our waitress walked away mid-drink order (missed half the table) and appeared frustrated when we asked for more time to figure out our entree selection. It was extremely awkward and uncomfortable for all of the diners in our party, especially the birthday guest of honor. Ironically, we were dining with someone currently starring on a primetime show on Fox, and we were still treated poorly (not-so-silver lining = all people treated poorly?). There are too many delicious restaurants in this wonderful city filled with hard working staff - don't waste your time here and instead go to a restaurant that deserves your attention and values your patronage.

DAMN GOOD PIZZA, I'm not ususally a fan of Italian food, but this place makes a delicious pizza, and delicious pasta.

It's premature to judge a place based on a single visit. But given I eat so many artisanal thin crust pizzas every year all over the globe I'm comfortable making a bold claim, they are in my top 3, if not the best pies I've ever had. That butterscotch dessert everyone is raving on is overhyped, but their tomato sauce and crust are amazing. I really like the Caponata but that's more subjective.

The fresh gourmet pizzas here are simply the best. The menu option are well thought out by the chefs. Anyone who makes a comparison to California Pizza Kitchen is an idiot and simply doesn't know good food.
