LOL Dudes... Christian mother freaks out over LGBT buttons. Proceeds to fabricate lies about her kid getting "detention" if she didnt want to wear it... Other parents and students have come out stating that she's incorrect. Sounds like her kid freaked out and got sent home for homophobic theist bullshit and now they want to paint themselves the victim... Oh the tired rhetoric of "LOOK AT HOW OPPRESSED WE ARE!"

A homophobic Facebook post by a mother slamming a school’s LGBT week has sparked anger among fellow parents and students.

me aswell +wolfgang schroeder  I was raised without strong religious ideologies in my own household too.  My family is traditionally presbyterian/catholic.  But only a scant few actually still practice/attend church and stuff.

I grew up across the street from a fundamentalist baptist church.  Those people were insane.  There were a few kids that were okay to hang out with... but I'll never forget the rock throwing, calling me a heathen, lol; Oh yeah, and getting REALLY PISSED OFF about dinosaurs.  The fossils are the devils work, and all ;)

Wow;  Gotta love stupid ass "moderators" that perma-ban people for saying "shit"

But allow people to hate on each other constantly.  You people are fucking idiots.

Yeah man.  Pretty wack.  Try to make a community better by being a concerned individual and going "Hey, whats going on?"

But people cant handle any kind of criticism these days, and I feel like the main moderator felt like I was attacking her or something.

in the end, its a blessing;  That community was so wack and the mods never did anything to stop the haters in the group from detracting from every one elses experiences.

Moderation  -

+Cy Williams and other admins;  This is a post from a person that is sick and tired of what appears to be a lax in moderating posts...  Every single ship thread devolves into stupidity because people feel the need to post "I dont like this ship" and then continue to spout negative "opinions" and detract from other members experiences.

There is also a MASSIVE amount of members that complain on nearly every ship thread about LGBT being "wrong" or "gross" or "against" their "religion.

These are the kind of posts that, having been a moderator for various things online (forums, bb systems, art gallery sites, etc. etc) for almost 16 years, I would've deleted and issued temporary bans to users that acted like many do in this community, without any respect or thought towards the other members active here.

By allowing excesses of these posts happen, without ramification for the actions, you give members the ability to hate on people via "opinions" (which dont actually mean anything, nor contribute anything to the community/posts as a whole;  Aside from pissing people off.)... you are therefore giving them PERMISSION to be jerks to every one in the community.

PLEASE lets see some action in getting shit done.  I enjoy this community and the user generated content;  But Im getting really sick and tired of the stupid comments that many posts generate.

We don't allow it. We do ban those, permanently I might add, who are disrespectful to one another. We can't be one every single post every second day and night seeing as some comments appear in the two hours of sleep my mods and I get. We take action more than most communities amd do the very best we can, why I post and manage the community every single day. I do appreciate you taking concern. But it pains me to admit I have to ban you for using foul language.

So devastated to come home from work and see news of the Paris attacks (and subsequent xenophobic/anti-refugee comments I've read just made it worse)... At the risk of offending some people, I'm going to say this:
Do not pray for Paris. Instead, put aside religious ideologies and join together in arms to fight against hatred and violence, no matter its source. Stopping this kind of violence requires more than prayers. It requires hard work of good people to go out and make change, to be the change and to show others that we are all in this together.
Lets be real for a second; Praying can help calm your mind and heart, but praying quietly for our fellow humans in France does nothing to stem this violence. I know some on my friends list will think that maybe I don't understand, maybe I just haven't "found God"... but I've been looking and searching (as the constant skeptic I am, of everything.), and the closest thing I've ever found close to "God" for me, is the smile in some ones eyes when I find a way to make their day better, said a kind word for a tired ear, making good food for hungry people. Getting a sad person to laugh... Easing the sufferance that every one carries with them. Life is hard, for every one, it's time we stop making it harder on ourselves and those around us by being unnecessarily cruel.
Genuinely love your neighbour, not because its in a book, but because its the right thing to do, no matter their creed. Our differences make us stronger, but weaken and divide us when we let them, when we allow the differences to be our focus.
We don't have to agree to be kind to each other. If you're on my friends list, you know I love you, and that includes the facet of your person that is your faith or lackthereof. But its time to be the change, not to pray.

I saw Carly today for a complete colour correction with 13 week overgrown roots. So let me be totally clear: there was 4 different colours, red box dye (never again..), blue, purple (from a balayage 5 months ago), PLUS my natural root colour from being overgrown... Carly managed to take me down to a beautiful ash blonde, an almost exact match. Yes, I spent 5-6 hours in the chair. Yes, it did cost me. But she was worth every penny. The service at Allure is fantastic; They all work together wonderfully and REALLY care about their clients. Dont believe what you hear around Maple Ridge; People seem to forget that you get what you give!! Stylists do NOT have it easy, they just make it LOOK easy... these girls all stepped up to the plate for me today. Carly is my HAIR HERO <3 I'll never see another stylist in Maple Ridge!

My husband and I decided to try out Hamada as we had heard good things in regards to the quality of the food. We decided to give it a shot for one of our rare date-nights where we get to indulge in two of our favourite things: sushi, and beer. We checked online to make sure we made it well within the hours of operation (it states that they're open until 10pm Daily). We arrived at approximately 8:15pm. There were still some other patrons at a few tables, but over all it was wonderfully quiet. However, the service we received was in a word, completely DEPLORABLE. Never before have I experienced such cold, callous service. Our hostess was sweet when she seated us, but our actual server, an older woman, barely spoke. Our food order was asked within a mere couple minutes, but we were never asked if we wanted drinks; Remember, it was sushi AND beer we were after. We were WANTING to spend money in their establishment... We ordered the meal-combo for two, at $36 it looked to be a decent amount of food for the price. We were not disappointed in the food... however our miso and sunomono arrived within a minute of sitting down and telling our server what we wanted. Again, barely speaking. before we were even finished the tempura arrived (which she just plunked down inbetween us, almost with a thud)... so it was lukewarm by the time we started eating it because we wanted to finish our appetizers of sunomono and miso first. By the time we had finished the (lukewarm) tempura, the large sushi platter arrived; it was the only thing that was timed well in the layout of our meal. However, what happened next completely floored me: We were approached by the hostess and she asked us if we wanted to take our teriyaki portion home!! by this time, we had barely eaten HALF the sushi platter and the hubby and I were simply trying to enjoy our time out together... I felt like from the MOMENT we stepped in, they wanted us OUT of the restaraunt like we were COMPLETELY INCONVENIENCING THEM. "Oh, youre eating too slow and we want to clean up and close early, so take the rest of your meal and get the f**k out" was the vibe I got from the entire staff. By 8:30 (seriously, we were only there for 15 minutes) We left with half our sushi platter (which the waitress sneered at me when I asked her if she would be able to put it in a container for us)... when we got home and decided to eat our teriyaki... we found that the rice was INCREDIBLY dry, and tasted somewhat stale like it had been sitting for some time. that being said, the rice was the only disappointment in the quality of food... but the SERVICE is the reason the husband and I WONT be returning. We were completely rushed out deliberately and were NOT made to feel welcome whatsoever.

My boyfriend and I suddenly found ourselves faced with moving to Maple Ridge and were in need of some extra cash. We were initially selling a couple PSP's (hand-held gaming devices for those who don't know) with a few games and movies. We knew that they are a common sight at pawn shops and sometimes wont sell for quite some time, so we weren't looking to make a bunch of money, just spare cash kind of deal... Every one at City Pawn was awesome! Extremely friendly, we were greeted immediately once we came through the door. And they were willing to at least have a conversation with us about the PSP's whereas another pawn shop we visited first, pretty much scoffed at the sight of one PSP and regarded us with a "Nope. Not interested." and gruffly walked away. Every one at City Pawn took time to actually have conversations with us, and were very understanding when we told our story of being faced with a large move in the very near future! We were so happy with the service we received at City Pawn that we returned later that same day with our PS3 and a collection of games and blu-ray movies. All it took was a quick email listing what we had and we received a response in a matter of minutes! Quick and efficient, professional service, which I always appreciate greatly. Recommending to every one we know! :) Thanks guys!
