This has been my favorite Italian restaurant in LA for years now. Excellent service, and amazing pastas. I recently tried their chopped salad (which includes pistachios, white beans, and avocado, among other things)--so perfectly balanced and delicious! Such a great little spot, in a cozy but clean space.

The rave on the food here had my expectations raised a bit high. My seafood pasta dish had shrimp that were small, tough and overcooked, and I was served an inedible clam that had not opened. The pasta was special being fresh, yet the consistency was so different (unfortunately reminded me of ramen noodles). I think what bothered me most was that I was not told earlier I had to order dessert to have my husband's birthday acknowledged. Over $100 check and a sense of "who cares" (such a poor business strategy). They sang happy birthday to another diner and we were not included in the celebration. The service overall did not extend... no interest to create a relationship to encourage our return (and I won't). Give me Palermo's any day where the food is only mainstream, but the care and appreciation for our time together is number one,,,that's authentic Italian!

Save the airfare and train ride to Tuscany. This is by far the best Tuscan meal I ever ate. The antipasti, the meats, the wine list were are top flight. If you have company coming in from out of town and they're in the mood for a two hour visit to Tuscany, do not miss this place. Indeed, the night we were there, it seemed as though there were an equal mix of locals (me and my date) and turistas. Regardless, call well in advance for a reservation if you want a table inside of two weeks, or put your name on a waiting list. A more magnificent Tuscan meal can't possibly be had outside Italy. *****
