Ayse was our favorite restaurant, with excellent food. However, although the food remained superior, our recent visit had very poor service, the waiter almost forgetting our table of 4, food arriving haphazardly, with large time blocks between some items, and one completely forgotten. No coffee or dessert was offered as the meal ended. Too bad but now off to new gastric delights elsewhere...

Excellent atmosphere and great food! We sat on the patio for lunch and stayed almost 3 hours without realizing. Everyone shared the tapas style meals and enjoyed an excellent wine selection. They also serve a local microbrew beer. Live music, amazing food, and attentive wait staff made for a great day.

Amazing dining experience here last night! The delicious food was perfectly portioned. Our waitress recommended the BEST Greek red wine and the manager Chris was an all star. Incredible customer service all around. Highly recommended!

Ayse was a huge disappointment for us. My husband and I came in for Valentine's day and I suppose our visit was doomed from the start. We mistakenly arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation (which was completely my mistake and I don't blame the restaurant for this at all). I apologetically acknowledged that it was totally my fault and that we'd be happy to wait until our actual reservation time to sit and asked if they had a bar where we could wait. The hostess was kind of brusque about the whole situation, "Yes, we have a bar, but it's packed. We can seat you. Do you want to sit now, or wait?" I responded something along the lines of, "Oh, great, yeah, sure, we'll sit. Thank you so much." We were then led to the bar area (which had a total of 4 people sitting at it--not at all what I would call "packed") to what I can only describe as the worst (and possibly only decidedly bad) table in the house. It was the only table I could see that was directly under fluorescent lighting with an unobstructed view of the kitchen. How romantic! We asked if we could sit at the bar and the water boy, who was extremely polite, said we could. After heading over to the bar, hubby and I decided that it wasn't quite what we had in mind for our romantic Valentine's Day dinner. We headed back to the hostess stand and asked if we could just wait for our reservation time and sit elsewhere. At this point the hostess went from brusque to pissed. Her: "I thought you were going to sit at the bar?" Me: "Well, we were going to, but we'd really just prefer a table. I know I'm being a pain and I apologize for that. We don't mind waiting." She immediately took us to another table where we ultimately did end up staying. Service at our table wasn't stellar. I mean, the waitress was really nice and knowledgeable about the menu and she gave us a bunch of suggestions, but kept thanking us for our patience and then disappearing. I think every time she came to our table she thanked us for our patience. All this did was continue to draw attention to her absence and aggravate me even further. I had no idea Meze meant small/appetizer-sized portions, but when I found out, I was totally fine with it. What's more romantic than trying new foods and being not just able, but encouraged to share? The food was OK. The Greek salad was tasty and fresh. The cheese platter was not exactly what I would define as a "platter" unless you're simply describing the plate it came on. The spanakopita was decent. The Maryland Pide was fine, but we kind of got grossed out after a couple bites because the crab filling wasn't warm in the middle of the pide. We didn't say anything because not only did I already feel awkward about the round of musical chairs we played when we arrived, but we were getting full and I just wanted to leave. All in all, nothing was THAT great about this place, and I'm just really disappointed. I would not come back here.

This place is good. I can't point out any of the meze's as something to avoid. I'd say not quite as good as Me Jana on Clarendon in Arlington but similar. In Frederick, prob my fav restaurant.

Great food, lovely decor. Best Brussels sprouts ever. Pre-teen vegetarian says "everything is awesome."

We went for Restaurant Week and had the four - course meal. It was superb! The pita was fresh and warm. The Greek salad was the best one I've ever tasted - chop full of tomatoes, olives, and feta cheese with a light vinegrette. The hummus was good, though we're not big fans of it. The chicken skewer and "biftek" were cooked perfectly and very, very tasty! The portions are of a good size compared to the prices. The service was timely, polite, and engaging. The ambiance was relaxing as well. We definitely recommend this place.

The Brussels Lahanasi (brussel sprouts, walnuts, capers, currants and honey) and the Kahavia (shrimp, scallops, mussels and greek tomato broth) were both sumptuous! Service was attentive and professional - and all in a comfortable setting.
