Holy Crap.

I got a "Thundershirt" for our dog Ebi, a Border Collie/Beagle mix who is just over a year old, and suffers from plenty of anxiety (born in a hole dug under an abandoned trailer, in a massive dog-hoarding situation, so yah, anxiety galore).

We put the Thundershirt on, and watched our spazzy, whiny, jumpy, clingy dog suddenly.... relax..... stop moving...... climb slowly onto the couch..... go limp, and fall asleep.

Every time we've put it on him today, it's like he just got a shot of Valium. He just kind of goes limp, gets comfortable and his eyes get droopy. And the snoring! Hilarious.

I guess it doesn't work for every dog, but they do have a money-back guarantee. For us, this is the best $30 we ever spent!

Exactly-- same principle I believe! It is just shockingly effective! I know some people haven't seen a big change, but from the online reviews, I'd say 80-90% are experiencing the same thing as me.

This is the view out my window at work right now!
I don't remember the last time I saw fog this thick! Normally, on the other side of those trees I can see: the Willamette River, then past that to the eastside of Portland, and on past that to Mount Hood (about 50 miles away).
Crazy! It's actually getting worse, too!

My Dogs are Insane

Seriously. This is Imo (ee-mo), doing his nightly freak-out in the bathtub. He hops in, wiggling and rolling around like a nutjob, while he growls and barks and makes weird noises. Then he stands up, looking really pleased with himself, and hops back out, leaving me to rinse the dog hair out of the tub...

Sorry for some of the blurriness-- but he was flipping around so fast, it was hard to get a clear shot, lol!

Yum! Sweet Curry Rice!

(japanese curry is more like a thick, spicy beef stew... Not at all like Indian curry. I loves it...! )

Yes! The reviews said it might take longer to help subside really fearful behavior (like fear of thunder or fireworks) if the dog is old, because the behavior is more ingrained. But it is just a tight-fitting shirt really, so it is safer than drugs or anything else. :-)

Who is Ann's favorite comedian of all time.....?
Jake Johannsen!

I'm actually not big on comedians. I think it must be because I love clever, dry humor, and most comedians today seem to rely on easy laughs with shocking or crude language/topics. I like my humor like I like my men: cerebral.

Anyway, if you have an hour, watch this and you will LOVE it! If you don't have an hour, just click on it, add it to your favorites on YouTube, and watch it some other time.

Introduction
I write YA and MG fantasy whenever I'm unchained from my jewelry bench.
One of my dogs is a total genius, and the other one is part beagle.  I think you know what that means.
I won a fellowship from Oregon Literary Arts for my first attempt at a novel, but I'm still.... working.... on... it.
I currently have 4 novels in the works,  and I tend to jump around, working on whichever one invades my brain on any given day. One is a historical fantasy set in feudal Japan, one is a Regency fantasy, one is a Victorian fantasy, and one is a modern day-- you guessed it-- fantasy, featuring a postman and a lonely ghost who likes junk mail.

Did I mention that I am the biggest research nerd? Nothin' I like better than a whole afternoon spent googling the prescribed layout of a Shinto shrine, or the precise method for making and sharpening a quill pen (not to mention who would use goose, and who would use crow)....or how, why and when paper prices dropped in 1800's Europe.

Yah, I'm that kind of nerd.  90% of it doesn't even make it into my writing, but I feel the overwhelming need to know everything about the world I am writing.  Plus, I am terrified by the idea that someone could read my novel and say, "sheesh, who thinks they wrote on parchment in the Regency era...like they would go to the expense of real parchment.  I mean really, google something before you write it!"

In other words, I'll let you know if I can lay off google long enough to complete any of my novels.

Bragging rights
My first rejection letter was from Gary Gygax, when I was 10. Yes, it is framed.
