Hate is poison. Education is the antidote.
It's easy to say that white supremacists of all types are wrong and I do not support their ideology one bit, but it's hard to figure out what I can do about it. When I couldn't sleep last night, I looked to my past experiences and my community's history for...

I met some of the students behind Project DaVinci at a conference over the weekend. Their satellite will send Morse code signals that other classrooms can receive. They will also post a series of lesson plans to their site.
This sounds like it could be a cool opportunity to create some classroom connections around topics of space and communication. I'm going to sign up to check it out. Please let me know if you're considering this, too. It would be nice to link up with other participating classes.

The Idaho Kids Vote Book Award is ready to go for another school year. I posted the 8 nominated books on the site last week.
This project is a fun and easy way to get students reading high-quality middle grade books while using technology to connect with other classes around the state. Please check it out and share with other educators who may be interested.

The Think Big Festival in Coeur d'Alene is having an Educator's Summit on Thursday, August 3 from 1 - 3 PM. They're billing it as a chance to talk about the future of education and technology's role in it with executives from major tech companies. It's free for educators and it will be at the new Innovation Collective building in downtown Cd'A.
I'm going. Will I see any of you there?

Everyone learns, everyone teaches: #IMMOOC Week 3, Post 1
Image courtesy immooc.org Why is there a divide between school and learning? How can we bring them closer together? A good place to start is recognizing everyone in the classroom as both teacher and a learner. I am proud to be a learner. When I try somethin...
