24 October, 2012: Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen graced the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN).
As Patron of RSPN, Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen inaugurated the new office building and the Jigme Khesar Environment Resource Center at an event commemorating the pioneer NGO's 25 years of work in environmental conservation in Bhutan.

RSPN was established in 1987, and His Majesty the King (at the time the Crown Prince) assumed patronage in 1999.

The Board of Directors, Members and Staff of RSPN express our profound grief for the untimely demise of our dear colleague, Mr. Tshewang Norbu who worked with RSPN since 2003. He expired in an unfortunate car accident on 29th August, 2012 a
t Sisiding (Thinleygang) at around 12:30AM.

He was one of the most active field staff who contributed to RSPN as an Assistant Research Officer, especially in White-bellied heron conservation. He will always be remembered for his cheerful character, calmness and enthusiasm. He was an ardent bird watcher, trekker and guide.

He is survived with his wife and 3 children. His rites will be performed by his parents and wife at his residence in Dechenchholing.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
