Unbound Visual Arts, Inc.,  and the Harvard Allston Education Portal are very pleased to announce the opening of two new curated exhibitions. Both exhibitions, featuring members of Unbound Visual Arts, run through October 31. A free public reception with the two artists is Thursday October 2nd from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at the Harvard Allston Education Portal Art Galleries, 175 North Harvard St., Allston. The reception with refreshments and a birthday cake will also celebrate Unbound's second anniversary as a non-profit corporation. Keyboard music will be provided by Mae Siu Wai Stroshane.

"Carmela Cattuti: Fashionably Urban" features oil paintings that present the serene side of animal life through their mindful eyes. This exhibition of oil paintings presents the relationships and vitality between fashion and urban places. These paintings explore Carmela’s love for historic urban spaces and landscapes as well as the fashions that are oftentimes a part of those spaces. Her paintings of shoes and dresses as well as the outdoor settings all call upon the use of well as the playfulness of the 19th and early 20th century and whose many remnants are still among us.

"Angela Fiori: Optic Serenity" is an exhibition that features oil and acrylic paintings that present the serene side of animal life through their mindful eyes. This exhibition of oil and acrylic paintings includes a large number of two seemingly different animal species - cows and birds. Through her animal portraits, Angela displays a common sense of warmth with her adept use of light, shadow and color for the animals and in backgrounds. She chooses just the right combination to ensure that the animals remain the center of attention while at the same time giving context to her paintings.

Hope you can make it on Thursday!
