Stormy Buckingham...

The sky was just amazing down here in the city this afternoon. I was right around the corner from the fountain when I saw these epic clouds rolling in so I decided to stop and shoot for a bit. Definitely happy I did because the clouds made for some amazing drama in the sky over Buckingham Fountain.

Nursery Spider...

Nursery Spiders derive their names from the way they handle their eggs. The female carries the egg sac with her fangs to a suitable location and then builds a web to suspend it from a leaf or high shrub. Once the web has been spun and the sac is protected, the female will then stand guard until all of the eggs hatch.

Spring in the City...

Today was absolutely beautiful outside and I had to stop and shoot for a bit on my way home. I was surprised when I found these flowers and just as the sun was starting to set these clouds flew in and added a bit of drama to the sky. I truly hope that spring is here to stay, as Im really looking forward to shooting more flowers in the coming weeks!!

BOOM!!!!

A huge lighting bolt strikes the antennae of the Willis Tower on a stormy afternoon in Chicago. I had just left an art presentation Athena Restaurant Chicago Greektown for Choose Chicago when I noticed some decent cloud structure forming overhead. I already had my camera with me so I headed out to Northerly Island to check out the storm rolling in. As you can see, mother nature put on quite the show!!!

Wolf Spider...

(Hogna Aspersa)

Wolf Spiders hunt at night, spending their days burrowing under rocks and logs. These spiders can grow quite large in size (15mm-25mm), which is why they are feared by many people. They are known to bite humans, especially if handled, but their venom is not very harmful to humans. I bit of pain and swelling is the most that can happen if you are bitten by one of these guys. While males die after mating in the fall, females overwinter and then lay their eggs in the spring. The spiderlings will then climb on the backs of the females and spend the summer growing in size. They will then overwinter with the female until the following spring, at which point they will be fully mature.

Small House Fly's Mating...

I got my hands on Canon's super macro lens the MP-E 65 for the next 10 days and Im definitely pretty excited about it! I have been wanting to get into macro photography for a while now but just havent taken the time to do so. Today was my first day out testing this lens and with the chilly weather I honestly didnt expect to find any insects. When I stumbled upon these two mating, I was definitely pretty stoked and Im really happy with the end result of this shot!

Tulip Stamens and Pistil...

A 1.5:1 Macro photograph of the reproductive organs of a blooming Tulip. Stamens and pistils are the male and female reproductive organs in flowering plants and are necessary for sexual reproduction. The male organs are purple and are called stamens. They grow in a ring circling the pistil, which is the female reproductive organ and is yellow in this flower.

Tribune Tour View Sunset...

The view from the top of the Tribune Tower here in Chicago just at sunset. I was definitely amazed by this view and the clouds passing over made for a bit of drama in the sky. It was surprisingly chilly for this Sunday springtime evening, but that seems to be par for the course this year. Once spring decides to arrive, I hope it comes with full force!!!

Introduction

Jamie Link's photography mixes his love of adventure with the primitive beauty of nature to create awe inspiring portraits that have begun attracting local and international recognition. Jamie's list of achievements are growing rapidly. Most recently Jamie earned the prestigious "Doug and Annie Johnson Photographic Award" at Northern Colorado's 21st Annual National Art Exhibition and Sale. Jamie also was selected as a runner up in the National Parks Juried Photography competition held by Chasing the Light. His photos are regularly selected for inclusion in the photoextract.com's daily countdown, an international online photography magazine who features top photographers from around the world. Jamie's photos also repeatedly headline as editors pick for "photo of the day" at Capturemychicago.com. Jamie is also contributer at numerous stock photography websites including iStock and Nationalgeographicstock.com.

Jamie Link can best be described as an optimistic and adventurous soul. He learned to ski at age four. He backpacked through Europe at age seven. Since then he's tackled helicopter snowboarding in the backcountry, white water rafting, SCUBA, and even sky diving. One of his favorite pursuits however, is driving his award winning 2001 Jeep which he built and designed himself to maneuver treacherous terrains in the western United States. Along the way Jamie always brought his camera to capture these escapades. Several years ago Jamie lost his father to cancer. That event caused Jamie to re-evaluate his life path that he had chosen. He was attending school full time in preparation for a corporate desk job and working as a bartender leaving little time for anything else. It was then he decided to return to the adventurous activities that once brought him the most joy. Jamie combined his passion for these adventures with his love of photography and things have taken off from there.

Today Jamie Link concentrates on producing art-inspired photography of city/rural landscapes, architecture, sunsets, wildlife, extreme sports, corporate events, portraits, and even weddings.

Jamie's photos artfully capture the primitive beauty of nature to produce strikingly serene and inviting landscapes. He continuously works to find new subjects and opportunities to expand his art photography so visit his website often to find his latest works.
