Important Information When Installing a Furnace

The furnace should be installed on a level from front-to-back or with a slight tilt such that the back of the furnace is up to 1/2” higher than the front of the furnace. Your furnace can be set up in the attics, alcoves, utility rooms, closets, and crawlspaces. You should remember that arrangements should be made to prevent freezing of condensate.

Caution: Turn Off the Power

Turn off the A/C and furnace breakers in the main electrical panel before pulling the outdoor disconnect or removing the condensing unit’s access panel. Then use a voltage tester on the wires coming into the contractor to make sure the power is really off.

How Is Your Air Conditioning Capacitor?

Capacitors are small cylindrical objects that store energy. They either send a jolt to start a motor or send jolts to keep a motor running. They work with the compressor, the blower motor, and the outside fan in your air conditioner.

Take a walk outside and inspect your condensing unit, and look and listen for the following:

1.Do you hear any humming?
2.Do you see the fan spinning?

Look for a professional HVAC technician if you need help.

Air Conditioner: The Three Main Parts

The three main parts of an air conditioner are the compressor, condenser, and evaporator.

The compressor and condenser are located on the outside of your home, at the condenser air portion of the air conditioner. The evaporator is located on the inside of the house, sometimes as part of a furnace.

The working fluid arrives at the compressor as a cool, low-pressure gas. The compressor squeezes the fluid. This packs the molecules of the fluid closer together. The closer the molecules are together, the higher its energy and its temperature.
