For Hospice Professionals:

On January 21, 2014 the FBI and Attorney General raided the offices of Biological Resource Center BRC and began a federal investigation. The local news media reported the investigation as it was happening in the midday and evening news. While we do not understand what is going on with this investigation, we hope that the outcome will be positive.

We are committed to working with only the utmost ethical, legal, and meaningful organizations to find ways to help people live better, healthier, happier, and longer lives through the advancement of medical research and medical education.

Research For Life is committed to whole body donation and will thereby honor all Biological Resource Center’s pre-registrations with an automatic acceptance in to the Research For Life program. This is done in the spirit of Research For Life’s Guaranteed Donor Program so no family will be left without an end-of-life care plan.

If you, a patient, or family has questions about the investigation, please contact the Attorney General’s office; otherwise Research For Life will have staff available to answer questions about transitioning donors in to our program.

For donor referrals our office is available anytime at
800-229-3244 or 480-940-1310.

City of Chandler Fire Department Awards Research For Life as Business of the Year
Chandler, Arizona - September 10, 2013 - Chandler Fire Department awarded Research For Life, a local whole body donation organization, as Business of the Year due to the organization’s contributions to the local fire department that led to increased survival rates in emergency situations throughout the community.

Research For Life provides human cadaveric tissue for improving surgical techniques, medical devices, and disease research.  And if that wasn’t enough, they also provide use of their facility and cadavers to train local firefighters, paramedics, and first responders on life-saving techniques.

Training on cadavers instead of manikins is the best way to train on these type of techniques.  A manikin, however life-like, doesn’t change size, weight, look or feel when being practiced on in training.  Human cadavers are better for training because they are anatomically correct and vary in shape and size, like we do.  This makes training on a cadaver as as close as it can be to a real situation when someones life can be at stake.  These invaluable training resources have made a difference for Chandler Fire Department as it has proved imperative for their emergency personnel to do their job to the best of their abilities; and in turn, save more lives.

Whole body donation is a very simple concept, yet so often misunderstood. Simply put, it is the donation of your remains — not for transplant, but for medical research and education.

The learning and experience gained through the use of human tissue is far superior to any provided by artificial substitutes and textbooks. The problem is — there is a major shortage of donors.
