Plus, the return of Dylan Horrocks, Joe Sacco's nuanced and controversial reaction to the Charlie Hebdo killings, Conan and Red Sonja are reunited and one of the funniest comics about artists and art school ever - Wendy by Walter Scott.

This week on mental_floss, I write about the next step in Marvel's 2014 Diversification plan: the new, African-American Captain America. Plus, probably the smartest superhero comic of the year: Strong Female Protagonist.

I legitimately find this stuff hysterical BTW. California itself is the same way, people claiming to be one thing and then not actually reflecting any diversity in their workplace or lives. But yeah, it's those big evil Republicans who are racist for segregating. Hahahahaha.

I interviewed comic book theorist and graphic novelist Scott McCloud about his new graphic novel The Sculptor, work/life balance, designing comics "for the device", the effect of today's all-ages comics on the future of the industry, reinventing himself, using photo reference, the webcomics of Boulet and much more.

This week on Mental Floss, I write about the nearly 50 year old Batman manga that for a while even DC Comics didn't know existed.

Plus, Hellboy's first mission with the B.P.R.D., Snake Plissken escapes to Florida and a weird comic about two girls in domino masks that's like a cross between Sigmund Freud and Joel-Peter Witkin

This week on mental_floss, the Library of American Comics releases a collection of never-before reprinted newspaper strips of Superman being a dick. Plus, recent art school graduate Jamie Coe's first graphic novel is a gorgeously designed depiction of the art school experience.
