Never be afraid to seek more than one opinion. It is not an insult to your doctor. If you are unsure about the nature of your illness or the best treatment, consult one or two more specialists. Getting more information lets you be more confident in your decisions!

Although you’ll be given pain medication, minimally invasive surgery has less pain associated with it. After one to two weeks, office workers could conceivably return to a part-time position. For other workers, full activity is often achieved after a six week recovery period!

Minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) does not involve a long incision, it avoids significant damage to the muscles surrounding the spine. In most cases, this results in less pain after surgery and a faster recovery!

Treatment in most cases is aimed at relieving symptoms. Extension-based back exercises and postural exercises are essential. These can provide significant symptomatic relief, but it is important to note that the structural curve cannot be corrected with these exercises.

Muscle strains and Ligament sprains are the most common injuries that cause back pain in the young athlete. They can be caused by athletic overuse, improper body mechanics and technique, lack of proper conditioning, insufficient stretching, as well as trauma. The athlete will complain of back pain with activity and will feel relief with rest.

Traditional, open surgery required a 6-inch incision into soft tissue to access the spine during surgery. Because of the large incision, this surgery took many months for a full recovery. Soft tissues and muscle need time to heal during this period. Minimally invasive techniques use several small incisions in the torso.
