Please say hello rather than just passing through, I love connecting with other people on Google+
My main interests are around Technology, especially computer and IT related, and Photography. I do have an eclectic mix of interests beyond those though.
I often go to the theatre, to see everything from modern abstract works, musicals, and Shakespeare. My reading is wide ranging but sci-fi plays a big part, although I had many (auto-)biographies and widely on religions including most _bibles_.
I like films, a lot. Cannot stand TV Soaps or game shows. Eating out is a big part of my life, but I am a pretty good cook as well.
Married and have two daughters. All three are studying at university. I am the thick one!
- Shropshire - I am a Shropshire Lad, born and bred
- Telford - my area of Shropshire, contains world heritage site of Ironbridge
That covers the main areas, but for additional interests, how about:#canals #narrowboats
- I love travelling on the man made waterways of the UK
- born same year as me (the TV show, not the character, he is much older)
#british #english #language - I only speak English, but love it and Britishness etc
#psychology - I am fascinated by how the mind works
I am sure there is more to add.
Geek: I got into computers when I was at school, nearly 40 years ago but started off linking to other computers and using bulletin board systems and the early networks straightaway and I have not stopped yet. I started working as a programmer while at school and carried on for a good few years before moving into more general IT related consulting and project management.
Photography: I love photography. All types. Although I have focused mostly on portraiture and have a small business sideline taking photographs to for businesses, organisations and individuals living nearby
Family: Married and father of two daughters. My wife and daughters are all studying at university at the moment. I feel like the dunce in the family. (I got bored at university, and dropped out.)
Beliefs: I am an active humanist and a member of the British Humanist Association (BHA) Whilst religion gives comfort to many, I think ultimately it will lead to our destruction as it gets easier and easier to kill more and more people. Religious moderates are to my mind just making it harder to have a rational debate as they are in denial about the edicts of their own faith and seeking compromises (choosing which parts of their faith to ignore at their convenience) rather than entering the modern world. This is not to say I think there is definitely no God, I just think it is highly improbable (difficult to prove a negative) and I believe there is much that we do not understand in the world and that spirituality is part of that.
You will find me in many communities, including the Google+ Helper community, which is a great place for newcomers to get support on how to get the best out of Google+.
I also follow a lot of photography communities but as I have a particular interest in portraiture, I frequent Model Photography and outside of Google+ I am a moderator of the TFP Models website where models, makeup-artists and photographers come together on a Trade for Photograph (#tfp )rather than paid basis to develop their skills.
My posting on here are my own unless otherwise stated. Postings do not necessarily represent positions, strategies or opinions of my current or any former employer or that of any clients or sub-contractors I have worked with or are working with at the moment. At times, I have a tendency to make posts that may be completely at odds with such provided purely for entertainment value, interest or to stir discussion.
Please note that the posts do not necessarily represent reality or my actual views on anything, but only what I felt like posting at the time. I often play devil’s advocate. You have been warned.
