Augmented Reality for everyone is no longer a dream - Smallest 3D camera worldwide brings it to a #smartphone

For the first time the #GoogleTango   technology is being used for a consumer product. Mobile devices get a human-scale understanding of space and motion.

Read the great story in our press release: www.infineon.com/augmentedreality2smartphone or
explore our landingpage: www.infineon.com/GoogleTango

“3D machine vision will drive multiple new applications both in the consumer and the automotive world,” said Jochen Hanebeck, President of our Automotive division. “The depth perception and motion tracking today implemented in Tango devices can also be applied to driver monitoring or gesture detection inside the car.”
To achieve this, the 3D Time-of-Flight technology is utilized alongside motion tracking and an RGB camera to sense the 3D environment in real-time, and to provide the 3D data for highly sophisticated augmented reality applications, indoor navigation and 3D reconstruction and measurement.

The REAL3™ Image #Sensor   ‬contributes hereby with all its benefits like
- sunlight robustness,
- small form factor,
- and low computational power needs

Happy Birthday, Infineon Batam!

Today, Infineon Batam celebrates its 20th birthday. Guest from all over the world – including our Board Member Jochen Hanebeck - have arrived to celebrate with MD Lee Chee Hong and our colleagues in #indonesia ‬. Infineon Batam is a backend manufacturing side and the only Infineon location in Indonesia. It’s located at Batamindo Industrial Park and has approximately 2000 employees. Highlights of the celebration also included cultural elements, like traditional dances from all over the region. And of course enjoying the #Tumpeng  (traditional Indonesian birthday rice dish symbolizing wealth and a long life)

Hello Dobby!
This palm size drone named Dobby was announced in China by Beijing Zero. With four foldable wings it is just as big as a smartphone. Dobby can be thrown out and the motors inside each wing will pick up a speed of 15.000 rpm within 500ms so it is able to fly. The motion control is made possible by our IPC product IRMCD099.

UNITECH network tackling the Climate Change at Campeon

As a first step Infineon hosted a workshop on Campeon to leverage the UNITECH network (http://www.unitech-international.org) tackling the climate change by support of the implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate.

Professors and students from academic UNITECH members as ETH Zürich, RWTH Aachen, TU Delft, Trinity College Dublin, Politecnico di Milano, INSA Lyon, Loughborough University and employees from several industry partners as Infineon, Danfoss, Evonik, Hilti and Nokia took part in the workshop from 16th to 18th June by discussing various disruptive innovation topics.

The event focused mainly on four separate but interlinked topic tracks, each dealing with a different area to conquer the climate change: Beside “Internet of Things”, “Disruptive Innovation” and “Carbon Footprint” one very radical new line of technology discussed was a Space Farm collecting solar power by a platform in the atmosphere.
The workshop pushed all four topics forwards and lead to more precise steps of research and development for the up-coming future. To sustain this innovative process the members founded the “Open Network for innovative implementation of Paris Agreement on Climate” (ONiiPAC) and agreed on regular meetings to ensure future progress.
