+Macy's will probably get more than one star in their salon if business picks up.

In Florida, we have what is called "black ice" that comes after a light rain. Just enough to leave an oily film on the roads. This morning I turned right at an intersection (I had the green light) and lost traction. IF I had not worn protective gear, here's what would have happened:
Minimum head concussion or right temple fracture
Dislocated shoulder or broken collar bone
Road rash on face, right arm, knees and feet
Skin would have been peeled from both palms

Instead, I was able to pick up my bike and ride it slowly the rest of the way. I was virtually unharmed. I am very thankful that both my wife and I wear protective gear year 'round. This includes:
Full face, high quality helmet
Riding jacket with body armor
Gloves specific for riding
Long pants (jeans mostly)
Boots or shoes that cover the ankle

Here are pictures shortly after the accident. The bike will go to the shop tomorrow.  I don't know how extensive the damage is to my bike, but its nice to know I can actually worry about that instead of lying in a hospital bed or worse.

It makes me cringe when I see folks riding with no helmet and wearing shorts and flip-flops. They say "its only a scooter".

Be careful!

What do you think? Is this school bus going too fast down this residential street?

Did you ever notice big and tall departments never have tall sizes. Only big.

Unless 4X means it fits someone 7 feet tall.

I like to shop at +Macy's because they have a nice place to sit and relax outside the fitting rooms.

I live a few hundred yards away from this place, otherwise I would have never noticed it. The former Country Fixins was a dump and the food was scary. But the new owners truly have transformed this place into a respectable restaurant with a great menu and great food.

Comfort food is king. You must try the corned beef and sloppy joe items. Everything else is grade A, but these signature items are awesome. The owner told me they don't own a can opener. Everything is fresh made. You can tell.

Bathroom was spotless. The whole place seems very clean too. I can see over the past year that they are slowly upgrading the decor.

There are very few little joints like this with this type of high-quality food and service. Everyone is extremely friendly and proud of this little place.

I went in to Vespa of Orlando originally to shop for cheap transportation to work. I left with a "Happy Mobile". My wife and I were so impressed with the friendly service (and of course the great scooters), that we bought another one about a week later. We are hooked and you will be too. I shopped plenty of places in Orlando and received very little interest in making me want to buy their products. At Vespa, the bikes sold themselves. They didn't try to up-sell, but gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. Very knowledgeable staff. Mechanic is awesome. I wish more people in Orlando would catch on. You will totally rediscover Central Florida on a scooter!
