and mother to Apollo, she's the daughter of Zoo Atlanta's famous Willie B. His is quite a story in the annals of zoos, which at one time, mostly consisted of cages around small cement floors, with no opportunity for the animals to step onto soil or grass at any point of their lives. He lived alone there for many years in less than stellar conditions and at one point, was given a television in the hopes of alleviating his boredom. Efforts to create better living conditions for Willie B were pivotal in a radical redesign of the zoo, which now provides a much more healthy and natural living experience for all of its animals. Olympia's dad Willie B was named for the same William B. Hartsfield for whom the Atlanta airport was named, and who, as Mayor of Atlanta, helped to bring about the much needed changes at the Atlanta Zoo, now known as Zoo Atlanta.
