Do your kids know how to turn off the water main and flow under toilets and sinks?   If your child is old enough to be in the home alone, they should also know how to turn off the water. A 1/2 inch blown pipe can gush up to 10 gallons of water per minute! If your child knows how to quickly turn this off vs having to call you or the neighbor - it can help you save quite a lot of money in potential damage.

John Wayne did a wonderful job, first helping us out with a terrible sewer back-up problem and then, coming right back and without question, removing a toilet installed earlier in the week and immediately exchanging it for what we had initially wanted. All this with a courteous and professional manner. He certainly is a wonderful advertisement for your company! So glad we signed up for their Advantage Program!

John Wayne and his Journeyman Tyrone just completed a days worth of work at my home. John Wayne is obviously a very knowledgeable and professional Plumber and his assistant Tyrone displayed professionalism and pride in his work. Task was detailed before hand and met or exceeded my expectations. Clean and neat! Will consider them first the next time I need professional Plumbing services.

I went down to my basement to find my sewer line backed up - so much for a stress free Saturday. I thought I called Roto-Rooter but found out I called Mr. Rooter. I'm very glad I made the unintentional mistake!! John Wayne Stewart quickly diagnosed the problem and unclogged the sewer line. He also pointed out some potential problems which I need to consider fixing sooner rather than later....my house is about 60 yrs. old so things do break down. I would recommend Mr.Rooter of Greater Syracuse to anyone needing plumbing services.

On 10/30 John Wayne Stewart and an Associate visited our house, we were having slow draining and had a minor backup during a time of heavy use on one occasion. He almost immediately determined that it was a clog somewhere between us and the road. He said that he would fix it and it would be $382 for this visit. This is my entire week’s wages, so I assumed a significant amount of work would be involved. They set to work and almost immediately stopped saying that it was unclogged but that was not in fact the actual problem. He had been condescending to me this entire time. At this point I was skeptical that he had any idea what the real problem was. The new theory was the bottom of the P-Trap in the front yard had broken out and was flooding the pipes with sludge causing the backup and would have to be replaced. His estimate for this would be $3500+ with no financing. I was not biting. To demonstrate the problem he shoved a long metal rod down the stack in the front yard and told me to feel the hole. I felt a sludgy bottom of a pipe. He warned that if this was the problem it would back up again within the week. Sure enough on the morning of 11/2 we awoke to a small river of sewage running to our sump pump drain in our basement. We were less then pleased and call Rotor Rooter again to come and clean out the pipe a second time and recheck the problem. Here my husband was available to listen and make his own opinion on the problem and John Wayne Stewart. He also had my husband feel the bottom of the pipe and as well he did not believe that it was broken. While he was still being extremely condescending to my husband and me even while I was not around. He then rooted the pipes again and instructed that if we did not get the P-Trap replaced this would keep happening. There were several times that he said “He would bet the price of the job that the P-Trap had a hole in it”. Also he told us that this job had to be done by a licensed plumber in our area trying to force our hand. After he left we called several plumbers and the town and all instructed us that we could do it ourselves. So we did. Low and behold the P-Trap was in great shape, but filled with debris that he had knocked loose, whether or not this was intentional. This could be a running scam, since as a trained professional he should have been able to determine, as we had that the pipe was solid, not broken. This goes against all codes and values by Mr. Rooter. We will never be recommending your company to anyone because we just invested $1000+ to fix a problem that didn't exist. Thank you Mr. Rooter.

Response from the owner - 5 months ago
We had our field supervisor visit the home and perform a no cost video inspection to determine the issue that was arising. While performing the video pipe inspection we determined that the line had a lot of pipe scale with one very bad section that needed to be replaced. The Homeowner replaced the bad section of pipe themselves. The line still has sections of pipe scale but the main area of concern has been corrected. With the video inspection we determined that the trap in deed was not broken and we did not diagnose the customers challenge properly like we should have to begin with. This is a training error on our end as the old school way to determine if the trap was broken was by using the metal rod. We will be conducting more training with our technicians as this is something we do not want to happen in the future. We strive to make sure our customers are taken care of and their challenges are corrected when we leave. We have also made a change with our service that a complimentary video inspection will be performed on any snaking task so we can ensure our customers that we are diagnosing properly and that we are only doing what needs to be done to take care of any of their plumbing challenges. We did refund the Mitchell's their money back as we do feel that our technician did not diagnose their challenge properly and should have spent more time determining the issue. We want our customers to be satisfied with our work and it is not our business practice to scam our customers. Again there is never a charge for our technician to come out and the homeowner always has the option to proceed with the work or send us away at absolutely no charge to them. We also would have sent a technician back for a second opinion at no charge if they felt that the work was not performed properly.

John Wayne, Mark and Nick(who did the dig and repair) are genuinely nice people and very knowledgeable in their field. Things were explained carefully to me and my new sewer line was completed expertly and quickly with little inconvenience and interruption to me. These guys are good!

We've had no end of problems with our sewer line over the past few months, and several other plumbing companies just scratched their heads and kept on snaking the line. Mr. Stewart and his crew quickly assessed the problem, but through a careful process of working through progressive cleaning options. They explained everything at each step and just installed a new sewer line that improves on the previous one significantly. They were efficient and professional -- even friendly. We'll call them again in the future, and would also be just as happy to run into them in town.
