This is not for the squeamish, but parents with kids playing sports should check it out:

http://www.futurity.org/health-medicine/football-neck-fracture-in-real-time/

As one of the leads in the story says, "“I challenge you to find a parent who will tell their kid to bang their head against the wall 652 times in 12 weeks."

I usually skip the man pages and go straight to Google when I need to do something complicated with Git. And more often than not, Google sends me to Stack Overflow.

Three Girls Dominate the Top Spots in Google Science Fair

First, I think it's awesome that three girls won the top 3 spots, second, I think it's awesome that Google is doing this - sponsoring a National Science Fair.

ICK, the language on that article is so off-putting. How can an article which celebrates women in science ALSO imply that girls can't stop talking about Justin Bieber and specifically call out their looks?

I worked with Steve on the Direct3D team at Microsoft. What I remember most was his constant smile and good sense of humor. He touched a lot of people and his loss is very deeply felt.

This Google+ page proves that the world lost a truly great man a few days later. He was funny. He truly loved his wife. Then gone. I'm only seeing the page 1.5 years later.

Ipod sales are slumping because everybody is switching to smartphones. PC user experience is in the toilet because of Windows rot (malware and legacy cruft). Maybe those forces will catch up with Apple someday but right now they are way out ahead in a new product category (tablet) and basic computer usability.
