When cooling off in the warm weather, be sure to stay safe! Remember that rivers and lakes in our beautiful PNW may be colder than they seem. During the peak heat of the year, our rivers are still only between 53-62 degrees! Hypothermia can be lurking around the corner if you don't stay aware of the threat. #Summer2k17 #WA #PNW #WA #safetyfirst

This is a northern flying squirrel, they are a protected species, and native to Western Washington! These little guys are preparing for babies just like numerous other species here. What makes the northern flying squirrel unique, is it's ability to glide from tree to tree using their excess membrane that acts as a glider. If you see these little guys consider yourself lucky! They can be very elusive, and are also nocturnal which makes it difficult to see them. They are endangered, due mostly to habitat loss in our area.
