I have bought so much rotten food from their prepackaged lunch aisle that I can't really blame Whole Foods any more. Shame on me for coming back to this place time and time again but it is on my block and very convenient. When It's not rotten everything is pretty good. That said, about 25% of the stuff I bring back to my office is either moldy, turned, or just about to. If you buy any of the fruit salad or the prepared chicken or the sandwiches in the plastic triangles, do yourself a favor and open it while you are still in front of the store. It will save you a walk back there when you find all the white fur growing on the bottom. Good luck.

The upstairs seating, free wifi, even semi public place for a gathering and even additional saving when you use your own bags for purchase is cool. That's all the good I can say about this particular location, but for those who know, like I do, even specifics like where the produce is really from and what they really sell, then you know why this is a 1 star review. Even rich people who have money to burn know better and with their extravagant price like $5/lb of Apples I might as well go any direction North, East, West, South, you name it, just to get restaurant food at a fraction of the price. I'd go to Chinatown, Pathmark, Shop Rite, Waldbaums, Walmart, Costco anytime over this brain washing ripoff and poor excuse to exist entity.

I'm aways happy with the overall ambience of this venue. The people are always accomodating and informative. They usually have the produce I need here, and when they don't, they give me a rain check. The music always puts me into the mood to shop. And the location is very convenient.

Wholefoods is the first supermarket I've found stateside with a fair (to the consumer) mispricing policy. If you see you've been mischarged on an item, take your receipt to the customer service desk and the item is free. Unlike other stores in NY (*cough* Kmart @ Astor Place *cough*) where they act like they are doing you a favor by just refunding the excess and selling it at the advertised price. On a different note, I wish they wouldn't put code locks on the bathroom doors here - sometimes I like to use the bathroom before I shop and get the receipt with the code printed on it!

Can't miss this place, it's so big it takes a whole corner on Houston & Chrystie St. The selection is absolutely overwhelming. There's a nice space upstairs to eat their ready made foods and take a breather and lounge around on a sofa or at a table, and people watch inside and outside. Great when it's snowing and cold. Love this place even though their prices are not cheap compared to what we get in Montreal... Still, the selection and beauty of this place and it's clients is a must if you like to be kind to yourself.

Not clear with the price, but every single food looks good and fresh. I had one apple crisp muffins, and it is really good.

Beware when you are buying stuff. Some items, especially tortilla chips are past their "Sell by Dates." I brought a bag of chips and I went home to open it. When I first opened it, I could tell that air has been leaking out. The bag was sealed, but somewhere along the line there was a small hole in the bag. I took a chip and dipped into some guac and the chip was STALEEEEEE!!! I immediately looked at the expiration date and it was a week past its sell by date. I ran back to Whole Foods and waited in line for customer service the same night and they apologized. They asked me to get a fresh bag and when I looked at the other bags of chips around the shelf, some were also 1 week past their expiration dates. Went home satisfied but also very unhappy I had to trek all the way back to Whole Foods. If the chips weren't stale I wouldn't have cared, but there is nothing worst than eating stale chips with guac.
