What Apple's latest product launch means for Vancouver developers/the mobile payments sector and consumers.
Two new iPhones, a mobile pay system and a smartwatch may not have been enough to convince investors Apple hit a home run with its product launch Tuesday, but it spelled a win for Vancouver’s mobile development and mobile payments companies. “This is huge for developers,” said Chris Hobbs, president of Two Tall Totems, a…

Samsung's new Galaxy Note 4 was unveiled today in Berlin. But most interesting is Samsung teaming up with Oculus for the new Gear VR headset that works with the Note 4. Plus a smartphone that throws a curve.
Samsung added some sizzle to its smartphone announcement today, rolling out a virtual reality headset, along with its new Note 4 tablet smartphone hybrid and a new Galaxy Edge with a display that curves over the edge of the phone. While the Note 4, with a stepped up camera, improvements to its S pen and…

Back in Canada's pre-wireless Code of Conduct days, it was costlier to get an unlocked phone to dodge devastating roaming bills. Not so anymore, although it's up to consumers to how to save on their cell phone bill when they travel.
Before you pack your bags to head off for March break, check out our cure for the roaming bill blues. Don’t make the mistake of Vancouver’s John Graeb, who turned off roaming on his smartphone when he travelled to Japan but was still surprised to come home and find he had run up 361 minutes o...

Gillian, you can get $15 unlimited US roaming (voice, data, text) with Wind, even with their $30 plan still cheaper than any of the big 3's plans.

Question is will Ottawa let Verizon buy into Canadian wireless market and how much ownership stake would it take?
Shares of Canada’s largest telecom companies fell sharply following a report that U.S. telecom operator Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) has made an initial offer for Wind Mobile and is starting talks with Mobilicity.

Even just the potential of Verizon showing up should cause plenty of shivering in their collective boots for Telus, Bell and Rogers.  Even Verizon might show the big three how to simplify their services. (I don't care much about price -- give me simplicity!)
