They're very interesting as well. When I was at the University of Connecticut, there was an undergrad in the science department, who made some real headway in studying them. He was taping numerous hours of film studying their eating habits through a clear feeder. He discovered something about their tongues--or at least in a couple of different types of hummingbirds. If I recall correctly, it was that their tongues are forked, like that of a snake--one side is sensory and the other is for grabbing the food. Fascinating!
