ICYMI: Last week, a carriage-horse driver/ industry spokeswoman was caught forcing her horse to work during a NYPD imposed suspension due to intense heat: http://thedo.do/1n4yeds

We are currently on the streets of NYC protesting this cruelty, along with Stopping NYC Horse Abuse, and calling for this driver's license to be revoked.

Even if you weren't able to make it to the protest, you can still take action by asking Mayor Bill de Blasio and your City Council Members to pass legislation banning this industry once and for all: http://bit.ly/1osYYIT

#TakeAction: Join us tomorrow outside the headquarters of the Port Authority of NY & NJ at 5:30 pm, along with GooseWatch NYC, to protest the USDA's slaughter of NYC's Canada Geese which is set to take place during the next few weeks for the sixth summer in a row. Get more info about the protest HERE: http://on.fb.me/UJnOKd

If you can't attend, you can still speak out against the slaughter by contacting the people listed in our graphic and urging them to stop the killing of these Canada geese and their goslings. Read more on our website: http://bit.ly/1nYi21e

UPDATE: Some fantastic news! Senator Tony Avella's bill, which we helped draft, to save #NY's mute #swans from slaughter has PASSED unanimously in the NY Senate today. It now only requires Governor Andrew Cuomo's signature to become law.

Contact him today and ask that he signs the bill. Read more on our site: http://bit.ly/1soR87P

Thank you to Senator Avella and to all of our supporters who rallied to protect these beautiful birds from the DEC's brutal plan. Although the swans haven't won the war waged against them by the DEC, they've won another battle!

UPDATE: We're pleased to announce that after decades of torment, round-ups, and killing at the hands of the Bureau of Land Management, Friends of Animals and The Cloud Foundation  have petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list North American wild #horses on all U.S. federal public lands endangered under the Endangered Species Act.

Urgent #NY Alert: Save our #Swans! We're very close to passing legislation that would protect the state's swans from slaughter. Please contact your NY State Senator today & urge them to pass Senate Bill S.6589A which would save NY's mute swans from being wiped out.

This bill passed in the Assembly last week and we need calls and emails to ensure it passes in the Senate and becomes law during the next few weeks.

Check out this article, as well, which details just how close we are to passing this legislation and protecting mute swans from the DEC's killing plan: http://bit.ly/1ofqA4A

#NY Alert: Save Cornwall's Canada geese from slaughter and urge the town NOT to hire USDA agents to kill Canada geese like it did last summer when 139 geese were round up into crates and gassed or shot to death.

Contact the Town Board members of Cornwall and tell them to abandon their mean-spirited plan to slaughter Canada geese and implement proven non-violent strategies to better deal with the geese they share their community with.

Killing wildlife is never the answer.

We have a new spay-neuter billboard campaign with eight locations in Connecticut, starting yesterday. Ads will also roll out in portions of NJ, Brooklyn and Georgia to combat #dog & #cat homelessness.

Our affordable spay/neuter program is made possible with a network of close to 700 veterinarians who perform approximately 35,000 surgeries through FoA each year.

For more info on this ad campaign, check out our website: http://bit.ly/1kme5mj

Our rally to save #NYC's Canada Geese was a success...we handed out hundreds of flyers to the public, including some Port Authority staffers, raising awareness about wildlife slaughter and ended by marching to Union Square Park. Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us!

If you'd like to continue to raise awareness about this issue, you can print your own copies of our Take Action flyers to help save Canada Geese by downloading it on our site. To read more and view pictures from the protest, check out our post: http://bit.ly/1pWrWSx
