Questionable parenting skills aside, the reality is the woman whose 4-year-old son plummeted 20 feet into the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden gorilla exhibit over the weekend was visiting this zoo armed with a false sense of security.

What this tragedy has exposed is that not only did the zoo manage to kill an already critically endangered species, but that the recommendations regarding safety in terms of zoo exhibits should be better scrutinized. http://bit.ly/1TVsRT1

#TakeAction: Want to know one of the easiest ways you can help prevent pet homelessness? By recruiting your veterinarian to our low-cost spay and neuter certificate program! The more vets in the program, the easier it is for pet owners to have their cats and dogs spayed or neutered.

It's easy! Check out this link for some quick instructions: http://bit.ly/1NPPCmA

‪#‎TakeAction‬: Worldwide condemnation of trophy hunting was sparked by the killing of ‪#‎Cecil‬ in Africa, but now Florida’s bear population is the next target of such a bloodbath. We need your help to stop this bear trophy hunt to ensure the future of the species in Florida.

We're asking our supporters to contact Florida Governor Rick Scott and tell him to cancel the bear hunt and instead educate residents on how to peacefully co-exist with bears! Learn more on our website: http://bit.ly/1NjV8yH

#TakeAction: Finally some good news out of Alaska! We’re happy to hear that U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing predator hunting restrictions for Alaskan refuges. Specifically the rules would ban hunting techniques like baiting brown bears and hunting wolves and coyotes during the denning season.

They are asking for public comments from all across America, so visit our website to learn how you can take action and urge USFWS to enact strong restrictions on predator hunting! http://bit.ly/1QB9oal

What do hunters roaming the woods with loaded weapons think they have to fear? Animal rights activists with cameras apparently.

We have a huge ‪#‎jeer‬ to a proposed bill in Wisconsin, introduced by Representative Adam Jarchow, that would criminalize the “harassment” of hunters in the woods ....meaning you could face jail time or a $10,000 fine for just filming or taking a picture of a hunter on public lands: http://bit.ly/1KqTeqp

‪#‎Update‬: We have filed a lawsuit against the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell to halt violent, frightening, inhumane helicopter roundup of up to 167 wild horses in Northern Colorado.

“Round ups and removals are very stressful for the individual wild horses, who depend on familiarity with their home ranges and with each other for mutual protection, safety and comfort,” wildlife ecologist, Craig Downer. Learn more on our website: http://bit.ly/1Mt2T70
