Wild horses being labeled as "unauthorized livestock"? We won't stand for it. Which is why we've taken action with a lawsuit aimed at stopping the round-up and permanent removal of wild horses in Tonto National Forest in Arizona.

Join us over at Friends of Wild Horses for regular updates and news about our ongoing work protecting the last of America's mustangs! http://bit.ly/1hA79UY

We're looking forward to the upcoming 8th annual Veggie Pride Parade NYC 2015 on March 29 when vegans, vegetarians, and supporters of a plant-based diet hit the streets to walk, socialize, learn and celebrate the Veg lifestyle!

Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, Chris Hedges, will headline the event and FoA's very own Campaigns Director, Edita Birnkrant, will be speaking as well about the importance of activism for animals beyond just adopting a plant-based lifestyle. We hope to see you there: http://bit.ly/1CBW9xN

We want the public to know that roundups—which destroy social structures and fuel population growth—and the birth control PZP, which is a registered pesticide, are not the only options for wild horses.

We have filed a petition with the USFWS to list wild horses as either threatened or endangered which would provide needed regulation to halt further exploitation of this species.

It’s time the BLM “manages” ranchers and reduces livestock grazing on public lands stolen from our wild horses.
Friends of Animals - BLM should ‘manage’ ranchers, not wild horses : The debate over whether or not controlling wild horses’ reproductive lives is acceptable has become so heated that it has caused a significant break among wild horse advocates.

#Update: Last night, Friends of Animals saw first hand that if you speak out against roundups and PZP-pushing—or tell the truth that BLM keeps wild horse populations so low that the loss of genetic variation is a real concern—you will be silenced.

FoA employees were denied the ability to give a public comment against wild horse roundups and PZP use at a BLM meeting in Nevada yesterday and were instead threatened with arrest by Sheriffs and forced to leave the hotel...check out the video below and read more on our website: http://bit.ly/1Ea0mtx

We will continue to fight for wild horses to gain protections under the Endangered Species Act, so BLM doesn’t manage them to extinction, and wild horses will have the last laugh

#TakeAction: Did you know that Pompey, NY is preparing for a bloodbath next week when it will be the site of a killing contest involving coyotes, bobcats and foxes?

We're horrified that wildlife hunting competitions with cash prizes, which encourage the killing of innocent animals, are still allowed in the state of NY.

Help ban these contests by asking your legislators to support Senate bill #4074 and Assembly bill #03661 which would make these competitions illegal: http://bit.ly/1BorRLv

‪#‎TakeAction‬: Your help is urgently needed! The International Society for the Protection of Mustangs & Burros ISPMB needs to raise $20,000 to help feed 500 wild horses faced with extinction.

Their winter supplies have been reduced to DANGEROUSLY low levels. We are asking for your help today because not only will wild horses benefit, but ISPMB's Conservation program (which is PZP free) is so critical to the future preservation of all wild horses and burros in our country.

Please give what ever amount you can and stay with us for updates
throughout the month about the ISPMB herds! http://www.gofundme.com/rg5dqqc

We're excited to be attending the 2015 Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (PIELC) in Oregon this weekend where we will be presenting a panel discussion entitled "Can the Law Save America's Wild Horses?"

Our panel will feature many photos we've taken of wild horses roaming freely on public rangelands and lots of other historical and science-based info about wild horses. And, of course, info about our legal and on the ground efforts to protect mustangs and our pending Endangered Species Act petition: http://bit.ly/1GqCG5g

‪#‎NY‬ Alert: Your help is needed to ensure that a brutal kill plan for coyotes is prevented in Westchester County. This misguided, hateful trapping and killing plan is in response to a handful of coyote attacks on small dogs and cats over the past few years—all of which could be easily prevented by educating pet owners and residents.

FoA will be attending the meeting tonight in Chappaqua to oppose this killing scheme and we hope you will join us if you live in the area. If you cannot attend the meeting, you can find contact information for the town's Council Members on our website: http://bit.ly/1zC5gMY

Though bison once roamed across much of North America, today they are “ecologically extinct” as a wild species throughout most of their historic range, except for a few national parks and other small wildlife areas.

Despite this, at least 145 of America's bison have already been captured inside Yellowstone National Park this week as a result of agencies working under the controversial Interagency Bison Management Plan.

We are fighting this plan and, along with the Buffalo Field Campaign, have filed a lawsuit in response to these horrific roundups: http://bit.ly/1yDHPkG
