Catapult Castles and Number Lines
Second graders work really hard on learning how to add and subtract larger numbers.  The focus in second grade is using place value to do addition and subtraction.  This way by the time they learn the traditional algorithm they will know why it works and ha...

This family just lost their dad/husband to ALS. Caroline has been Jeremy's some care taker for the almost three year he battled ALS. She is under stress trying to figure out how to begin to raise and pay for two kids on her own. Please help ease this stress a little bit. She has been through enough watching her husband die in front of her. Jeremy was such a great guy with an amazing smile that will always be remembered.

Lisa,
Thank you SO MUCH for bringing up this important topic.  I used to work in a school district and am now an Educational Consultant who works across the country.  I have witnessed adult bullying behavior in schools (specifically the schools I used to work in) at every level.  Teachers bullying parents, students, administrators, and each other as well as being bullied by those same people.  So often adults kept silent.  When I began to address some of the bullying I saw among staff members I experienced more bullying from the bullies but slowly also began to see others who were quiet begin to speak up and stand up to the bullies.  There is so much energy spent focusing on the bullying behavior of students and very little, if any, energy spent on the bullying behavior of the adults.  If we don't begin to focus on this we are just creating (knowingly or not) future generations of bullies.  By only focusing on student/kid bullying we ignore the root of the problem- adult bullying.  Unfortunately there is bullying that happens from very high up in our adult world- just look at the actions of our politicians!  However, we can, and should, address the bullying behavior of adults in our schools and communities.  Thanks for helping to shed some light on this- it needs a BIG spot light.
