I've recently been learning yet another language, but the device being coded for isn't a computer, for a change. :-) Today, at the 125th birthday of Villa-Lobos [1], the piano arrived. What a pleasant coincidence.

Gustavo,
Just started learning piano last year myself on a Yamaha P-155 digital. Wish I had started about 50 years earlier, but it's still a lot of fun. A good teacher can help get you started in the right direction. There's a lot of music available on the internet and a some of it is even suitable for beginners (which I assume you are). Also, check out lillypad. It's music printing software that outputs midi as well as pdf. I used it to enter simple pieces and get sheet music and an idea of what it should sound like :-)Mar 16, 2012
+David Rook Oh, nice! I almost got that one as well, but it was so expensive here in Brazil that I ended up getting a real piano within the same order of magnitude.
I'm a total piano newbie, playing for little more than a month, and I'm having classes with a good friend of mine that teaches (he plays impressively well too). I just got to the end of Erster Verlust (Robert Shummann) this week. Do you have any good recommendations I should check for the next one?
In terms of software, I will certainly check lillypad out. So far I've been using Musescore. Have you used that one?Mar 16, 2012
