"Christmas is coming. Remember what happened to Rudolph? He had a red nose. The state standard was black. He was sent to Special Education.

But... on a foggy Christmas Eve, Santa Claus was looking for GPS. Technology creates opportunities.

Every revolution redefines human talent. There are many examples of how the useless becomes useful. We need to get students looking at the opportunities rather than focusing on the past." Yong Zhao

Here's a snapshot of our Haere Hub kids and their journey using Design Thinking as a tool this term.

So much empathy.. tore at my heart strings!

They were so creative and passionate about their solutions, and often rocked into school with updated versions of their prototypes...

"They are the schools exploring knocking down walls, exploring project based learning, integrated studies, self-directed learning time, STEM and STEAM initiatives.

These are the educators who are aware that the world is changing and who are exploring innovation from within the still largely traditional enabling constraints of our primary and secondary schools. An increasing number of educators are in this space and this is exactly where we need to be....for now."

Connect your Computer to a screen/dataprojector and invite your students to display their learning though your computer from their chromebook. This is worth having a look out and could be used to help learner google presentations where they have the screen behind them are using slide notes/presenter view. Means that a helper could start the video for them and they can choose the right spot without being tied into a VGA or HDMI cable. Worked well in my testing. Note for the moment it only work within the same domain. http://googleforeducation.blogspot.co.nz/2016/06/updates-from-iste-4-new-tools-to-help.html
